I'm sure there are lots of lovely studios at VWL. However, I'm trying to compile a list of studio room #s to avoid, so that if they give us one of those at check-in when we go (18 days-yay!), we can immediately change. For example, I've heard of one without a balcony, one with a dumpster view, rooms with lots of noise, rooms in bad condition, etc. So who here has had a studio at VWL that we should avoid, why, and what was the room #?

yuck...what an awful view!! OUr trip this June to VWL is to relax and spend time at the resort.....like sit on the balcony and enjoy the view!!

We "requested" a studio near the pool. Can you tell me where this is??? I am guessing at the end of the hallway.....wwaaayyyyyy at the end????

Thanks for the pics!

Yes, it is way at the end, facing in the direction of the bus stop. We had a similar room last Nov. Any even numbered room 2556 and up, 3556 and up, 4556 and up and 5556 and up will probably have that ugly dumpster area in view. On the ground floor (1556 and up) that area is blocked by landscaping.

I would also dissuade you from anything on ground floor forest view. Between the bugs and other assorted nasties, the patio was more than useless.

I don't see why they couldn't clean up that area somewhat. The dumpster could be sheilded somehow, and carts out of sight. I just wrote those room #'s down on my blacklist.

ask to be near the swimming pool or near the elevators - this should work -

I would also dissuade you from anything at the VWL all together. I would prefer somewhere nice like the BWV, but that's a whole 'nother story. ;) :D :p

Okay folks quit it - I can name at least 5 spots at BWV that are worst than VWL. Every resort has a few bad places - get over it. Just learn to avoid them.

Oh, I was just kidding around. :) I do realise all the resorts are not going to be that perfect. We own at BWV, but, I personally like the rustic feel of WL better. However, the things that do bother me about the VWL was, first, it's proximity to the deep woods. They could have had more buffer zone to keep the wildlife a bit away instead of it being built right on top of it. Second, is its remoteness from the rest of the WL resort. It has the feel of being an afterthought instead of being part of the resort as BWV is.

I would say that VWL was built as an afterthought since WL was already there. BWV and the hotel side of BWV were concieved as 1 project and built together at the same time. BCV is also an afterthought addition to the BC. I hope BCV fits in well as we just added-on there......spruce

The Villas at Disney's WILDERNESS Lodge. ;)

Picky, picky, picky...but having the wilderness on the patio and in the room is a bit extreme to me. ;) But some of that was poor room choice, Ground floor just invites them in. :(

I also do know that it was built after the lodge, I've stayed there in years past before the Villas went up. I definitely adore the theming, and have stayed repeatedly at Black/Great Wolf Lodge in Wis Dells, which has very similar theming. :) But they could have built it adjoining instead of way off down that ramp. It tends to put distance between the villas and the rest of the Lodge, especially with no staff or services (except the health club)actually on premesis in the Villas. If we stay there again in the future it'll be in the Lodge.
