Studios sold out Jan 8 but not at CRO?

Hi-I wanted to rent pts for a 5 night studio stay Jan 8-13. I was told by Disboard members that WL, BC, and BW were not available (SSR and OKW were).
I just called Disney CRO and asked for the same dates and they had a lot of availability. can someone explain? Do DVC members get blocked out of available rooms?

Disney holds 2-4% of each resort to account for renovation issues. When not needed for rehab, they do rent out their ownership thru CRO. In addition, when DVC members use their points for the non-DVC options, those are also rented thru CRO for cash rentals.

There are two inventories of DVC rooms- the first is member points, the second is CRO holdings (from the sources outlined above). In addition, if there are any villas remaining at 60 days before any date, those are also released to CRO for cash reservations.

It's entirely possible and common for there to be cash availability at DVC resorts when there is no member availabilty using points.
