I am sure the studios are smaller than the rooms at the deluxe resorts, but are they significantly smaller? The size of a room at a moderate? I'm sure this varies by DVC property, so I am primarily interested in BWV/BCV/VWL/HHI.

Thanks for any info.

Actually, the studios are a little bit larger than the standard rooms at the deluxe resorts. I can only really speak for Wilderness Lodge resort, but I know that the VWL studio is a little bit larger than the WL room.

And when the second bed is folded back into it's sofa form, there is lots more room!

BWV, VWL, BCV all have pretty much the same size and layout for the studio.

Of course, you also get the refrigerator, microwave, etc with the DVC studios.

While there is some variance in room sizes at all WDW resorts, most deluxe rooms are in the 380-440 sq ft range.

HH studios are 455
OKW studios are 390
VB studios are 375

BWV/BCV/VWL/SSR are 356-359

GF- 440
Poly- 391
BC/YC- 381
BWI- 385
CR- 394
AKL-344
WL-344

CBR/PO/CBR- 314

Room sizes are from DVC Public Offering Statement and Travel Industry Reference Guide for WDW.

The DVC studios fall in the range of the deluxe resort in size. Here are a few sizes I was able to find

BWV/WLV/BCV studio - 356 square feet
OKW studios are larger than 356, but I don't have that right now.
Moderate rooms - 314 square feet
Wilderness Lodge rooms - 340 square feet
Contemporary (Average room) - 394 square feet

I am not sure what the standard room at the Contemporary - it was listed as "Average room"

Like granny said. You do have more useable space in the DVC studios as you can fold up the sleeper sofa.

Thanks for your replies. We are planning on primarily booking studios (less points mean more visits) and I just wanted to make sure there would be enough room (DH, DS(5), DS (20 months) plus me).

Thanks again!!!

Just one note, all the studios except OKW have 1 queen bed and 1 double/full size sleeper sofa. OKW has 2 queen beds.

Yeah, sure. That's what we told ourselves too. The problem is, once you stay in a 1br unit you'll never want to go back to the studio, then when you finally get around to trying a 2br, well, at that point a 1br just won't cut it and, all of a sudden, you find yourself booking a 2 week stay in a Grand Villa and all hell breaks loose!

It's a vicious cycle. ;)
