A friend offered me a studio room at the BWV for my vacation. I'd be staying with her and her kids. How many have you ever had in a studio? I know that the rules say 4 adults and 1 child under 3 but how many have you had? I have read the big discusions about wether it is right or not but I want to know how many people have had more and if it was a huge problem.

2 and we hated it and swore up and down that we would always book at least a 1 bedroom.

We put 4 in a studio. Me and DH get the bed. BIL gets the pull out sofa, and we take along an inflatable twin matttres and sheets for DD (9). It's a little crowded (although we can lift the mattress to a vertical position during the day if need be) and BIL is really good about folding up the sofa every day. No matter how hard we try, we never spend that much time in the room anyway. I would love to try a 1BR, but I know that the minute I do, I will never be happy with a studio again.

Most of our trips are just the two of us (DH & me) we've never stayed in a studio. We'll 'talk' about getting a studio, but always decide we'd rather have the space (and the jacuzzi) :teeth:

I've only stayed in a studio once - it was my first DVC trip and included just me and my SIL.

It was OK for that trip, but once I stayed in a larger unit - the next trip was a 2 bedroom and there were 5 of us, that was it for studios! Even when it's just the two of us - DH & Me, I book a 1 bedroom. When I went last december with my two adult female cousins, I also booked a 2 bedroom.

Not sure what you are really asking - are you wanting to know about comfort? If DVC will allow more than the 4 +1? At what point you will be kicked out if there are more than the 4 + 1?

If you will be at OKW, you will get 2 queen beds in the studio. Anywhere else, the studios will have 1 queen bed and a sleep sofa. All have only 1 bathroom.

Best wishes -

All my 11 DVC trips have been in a 1 or 2 bedroom, most of the time with just 2 people in the 1 bedroom. I can't imagine more than 2 adults in a studio.

We try to get 3 trips per year on 200 points, so the studio works fine for us. Of course the 1-bed is more comfortable, but you have to weigh out what is more important.

We've only stayed in a studio two times, and both times it was just DH and I.

I just wanted to add..... ALthought many of us are 1 and 2 bedroom fans ..... 4 people and 1 under 3 in a studio would be cramped for a lot of people... that is the set limit. AND It would be cramped. In my opinion of course.

I suppose if all the kids are older (even more cramped) and your at the parks from open to close and elsewhere other than the hotel room for 99% of your day, you could do it, but you all would come back to a cramped room. Luggage bursting out of the closets, not enough drawers for all the clothes, and all of you sharing one bathroom (esp hard for the mornings). Maybe if your all organized and tidy and dont care if everyone gets a morning shower....

If there was anyway you could afford to stay somewhere else and not share a room with your firends and her kids, I would. That way you can have some down time without them.... PoP century is just a hop skip and a jump from the Boardwalk area.... rates start around 80 bucks a night, but often they have codes.

GL with your choice.....

IMO occupancy limits should be followed.

It's only DW and I, and we stayed in an SSR Studio on our first DVC visit - because everyone told us that once we stayed in a 1BR we'd be spoiled for life!

I love the studios, but I'm single.

That wasn't an option on the poll.

3 female adults, 1 11 year old boy in sleeping bag on floor, just 3 yr. old DD in Pak n'play.

OKW studio was roomy enough. BCV 1 night with fold out couch was claustrophobic, but compensated by SAB.

Studios are fine for us. We are my parents, and me 15 and sister 6. We are barely in room anyways and allows to use points better. We brought my friends one and use a twin air matress. It was cramped a little but i was glad to bring a friend. Us guys dont take up much. T-shirts shorts and we get quick shower adn morning and get out while girls get ready. LOL Should be fine. They said 5 is okay but couldnt give us linens for more then 4. We brought our own.

2 adults, no children: 3 different stays in DVC studio units.

Our next stay will be in 1BR unit (again, just 2 adults) ... and I'm guessing that it will change our habits for the future. I see all 1BRs ahead! ;)

First visit home was in a studion, DM, Me, DH & DS#3 (12th b'day)
we really weren't in the room very often, it was fine for us

We use a studio for a quick 4 nite stay every spring and either fall or winter now, usually just 3 of us (me, dh & one of our ds). This lets us visit wdw more than once a year

Last August we stayed at BWV standard in a one bdrm, orginally only 4 of us (me, dh & ds2 & ds3). Ds1 at the last minute was able to get away from school for fri and sat nite. That was cramped (especially after coming from an okw 2bdrm) and i don't think i would want to do that again but it was a very nice surprise when ds#1 was able to join us for a small portion of our annual family vacation at the last minute.

we're a family of 5. we've stayed in both studios and 1BRs. I didn't feel cramped at all in the studio. Besides, I go on vacation to spend time with my kids..... ;) I have too many peers that want to be separated from theirs... But, I guess the difference between love and pain is the perspective.

The 4 of us love the studio 2 adults, 2 kids under 9. We may eat a quick breakfast in the room - cereal, poptart, oatmeal.

I figure I am on vacation too - I don't want to cook. We usually do 1 10 day trip to the world a year and like to save up our points for the cruise.

We have stayed in OKW 2 bedroom - LOVED IT, but not worth the points.

disadvantage of studios - no washer/dryer in room, but oh well, husband does laundry while on vacation!

The washer/dryer is the one thing I miss in a studio. Too bad DVC couldn't have made a way for those to fit in.

Good for you that hubby does the laundry on vaca! I wish I could say the same.

don't be surprise if this post get closed. Occupancy threads can't get down right nasty.

the decision is your to made.

DVC resorts do not do a bed check.

wdw resorts do - if you are over the limit at a regular WDW resorts - you will be asked to leave or get another unit.

DVC resorts do not do this. ANother words if they don't care -

Now if your group makes a lot of noise and upsets the people in the next room - then DVC might send a security guard to make sure you tone it down a bit.

this is easier in OKW - 2 queen beds vs 1 queen bed and a double sleeper sofa (expect the plus studios at BWV have a little day bed)

My wife and I stayed in a studio at BWV as part of a land/sea DCL cruise vacation. That has been our only studio stay. We like the one bedroom units too much!
