Studio vs 1 bedroom

studio and longer trip!!! we do it frequently, the boys share one bed, we have the other, and we use the bathroom by the pool if very necessary:rotfl2: kidding, the microwave and mini fridge keep the kids happy for snacks, and the view is the same!
my guys are pretty big,and they would rather stay longer than live bigger:thumbsup2

forgot- we stayed 2 weeks...no problem! we packed very light, and had a blast! one kid could have slept on an air mat on the floor if we had chosen too.......

Well, since I didn't buy DVC to stay in a "hotel room", I'd always opt for the 1 bedroom or larger. We bought enough points so we could stay in a 1 bedroom when it was the 2 of us, and in a 2 bedroom when there were 3 or more staying. With two "teen" kids, I'd opt for the 1 bedroom for sure given your choices, and a 2 bedroom if I could swing it.

If you go with the 1 bedroom, I'd say do either AKV or BLT so you get the extra bathroom. That's the main reason I would NEVER stay in a studio with 2 teens!

I agree with those that suggest trying to stretch the trip somehow...

Pop Century?
DVC studio then transfer to 1BD
DVC cash discount?
AP discounts?

I'd try like heck to find a way to sell it to my husband as a good deal!! :lmao:

Whatever you do, enjoy your trip! :cool1:

I would do the 1 bedroom and find a creative way to stay 9 days. What about doing one of those non Disney timeshare deals where you get 3 or 4 nights for a low price plus a presentation.

GO with an OKW studio, and let your teens go out on their own at least part of the time.

Bedrooms and the shorter trip. Nine days is frankly too long for us at WDW anyway. I start wanting to go home after six or so.

A shorter fun-filled stay where everyone stays happy wins hands-down over a longer, stress-filled stay where everyone gets cranky........I vote for the 1 BR

9 days too long? OMG, you are at the wrong bulletin board. :)

I'd just tell your kids that the first one to complain about the sleeping arrangements gets the balcony. Problem solved.

My first reaction was for you to get a 1BR and then I looked at the point charts for OKW (your home resort? based on your signature). :scared1: A 1BR is almost double the number of points as a studio. I see you dilemma. Have you considered a value 1BR at AKV. The points are cheaper than a 1BR at OKW. You will sacrifice space and the pull out chair though in comparison to a remodeled 1BR at OKW.

Hmmm, I think I would talk to the family, see if the kids will agree that more days are worth the smaller villa and probably go with a studio at OKW.

If you went with a value to expand the length of the trip (before switching to a DVC villa). I get either two connecting rooms or a family suite. Disney has been running some good deals for cash rooms so you might be able to increase your days that way.

Actually, that's one of the reasons I stay. I serve to remind everyone that 500+ points is not everyone's idea of desirable. We enjoy Disney. We just enjoy it in moderation.

Add me to the same "9-days-is-too-long" page.

We have an upcoming exchange through RCI for 7-nights (Fri to Fri) at BWV. Airfare for return on Saturday is much cheaper ... so I booked one night in the same resort/unit type on points. Both DH and I looked at the plan and agreed: pay the higher air and come home earlier. Adding the 8th night was simply too long. We'll be ready to come home.
