Studio to 2 BDRM lockoff?

There's a chance that some of us will arrive early for our January Marathon Weekend @ VWL trip, needing only a studio. Can we request a lock-off studio and then when everyone else arrives the next day, they can "open up" the other side for them to create the 2 BDRM?

Would that be filed under a "request but not a guarantee" category?

Would I have to check out/check back in?

A studio is one reservation, a 2 bedroom is a separate reservation. There isn't much chance that you won't have to move.

There would have to be a studio open on your check-in day next to a 1 bedroom who will be checking out the next day. Possible but definitely no guarantee. Defintely have to check out/check in, it's a different room type.

At this point I would be surprised if there is availability because marathon weekend is popular. If you already have a 2 bedroom booked, you will have to cancel that and switch to a studio and 1 bedroom and then hope that you can get them connecting. Good luck!

We did almost this exact thing several years ago for the marathon. The three of us arrived a few days before the rest of our guests. We had a one bedroom for those days and when they arrived, we added the studio to our one bedroom. We reserved a one bedroom for the first days and then a two bedroom lockoff for the rest of the days. When we checked in, we asked the front desk to see if we were blocked into the same one bedroom with a studio to add when our friends arrived. We made a note on each reservation to make sure the room scheduler knew about it.

The only problem was that we arrived on Jan 1 and we checked in around 7AM (we had actually arrived the day before and stayed at another resort for the night). Our villa wasn't ready until around 6PM that night because the guests in the one bedroom had decided to self extend because they had a big NYE party the night before. They actually left the resort to go to the parks during late morning and when they returned around 3PM they were asked to leave because the resort was fully booked. Because they dragged their feet leaving and left such a big mess, the housekeepers took a long time cleaning it. It was really terrible and I would have been embarrassed to leave a villa looking like that.

Not sure about VWL but we did this exact same thing at BWV, actually MS suggested this and put it in the notes. Of course they are all lock offs and no dedicated but it doesn't hurt to ask.

There are dedicated studios & 1 bedrooms at BWV. So if you get a dedicated studio, there's no lockoff 1 bedroom to connect to.

Sorry I meant no dedicated 2br so they tried to make sure we got a lock off studio to start the vacation
