Studio, Standard View, January, 2011

Hi everyone.

I've just (this morning) sent my purchase offer for a small BWV contract and we are new to DVC. We want to go in January and have tentative plans for January 18-25. We will have enough points for BWV, AKV and OKW.

Is it unrealistic to think we would be able to book a standard view studio in one of those resorts for that time frame ????

All help and advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing at least OKW will be available, but that's due to it's size. I would think your next best chance would be AKV, with little chance of BWV. If nothing is available, be sure to waitlist!

Many people buy BWV contracts just to have the 11 month booking ability for the Boardwalk View villas and the standard view villas.

Both views tend to book up before the 7 month window opens for most times of the year. It is possible to get them at 7 months or less, but it is far from common.

Lately, there have been more reports of getting those views after the 7 month window opens. Not sure if that is because more people are reading and using the DIS Boards or (more likely), BLT is taking some of the pressure off booking at BCV, VWL & BWV.

In any event, getting BW or SV at BWV outside of the home resort advantage booking period is still a challenge. Don't be afraid to waitlist if you really want one of those villas.

Thanks Bobbi and Carol. You've made me feel a little bit better.

We don't care where we stay in January and we love OKW so that would be just fine. But we'd really love to stay at BWV for our very first DVC experience.

So far only dates around MLK weekend are filling up at only a few resorts. AKV, BLT and BWV have the highest no availability. There are no guarantees that a villa is available because the information show on the threads is not the official confirmation, but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

So for now it is looking good for a reservation at a WDW DVC resort. Here's some to help your purchase go smoothly and more to get the reservation you want. Good Luck.

I tried for BWV at the 7 mo window for a standard studio and there were too many holes in the week to get a full reservation. There was availability at the AKV in a standard studio (not a value studio). I decided to go with OKW near Hos. House since we were getting a 16 night reservation and it was getting too difficult to get an entire stay at one place and we will not do split stays if we can help it. Your luck will all be in the timing of when your contract comes through. Best of luck.

I tried to get a BWV std room for Jan 16-19 right at the 7m window and was shut out. A value studio at AKV was not available either.
I did get a studio at BCV. It was more points, but we love it there.
Good luck. OKW was available too when I called, and I'm sure it still is.
