Studio or 1 Bedroom??

You can try a split stay and judge for yourself - but if you decide to do that definitely stay in studio at beginning of your trip and then move to 1 bedroom for second part of stay; you never know unless you try & your family may find that studio suits you just fine....jmho but once you move over to the 1 bedroom from the studio you & your family will be sold on always ::yes:: staying in 1 bedroom :goodvibes

I definitely lean towards the 1BR. Because we own DVC, we have given up commando touring and no longer feel the need to be running around from earliest park opening until latest park closing as in pre-DVC days. This means we do spend time at the hotel and in our room. It's wonderful having the two rooms and two TVs. DH and I do not have the same taste in TV viewing, so for us, that's a plus. If one of us wants to read, we can do that in peace and quiet as well.

I imagine you will want to put the four-year old to bed a lot earlier than you want to go, so I would think the two rooms would make that so much easier. Of course, as everyone says, it's a lot more points, but we find it more than worth it and there's only two of us.

We are also a family of 4 with 2 kids...ours are 9 and 6. We don't spend much time in the room, so a studio is fine for us. I can definitely see the appeal of a bigger villa, but right now, we just can't justify the extra point cost.

Definately go for the one bedroom. We just got back from our own version of the land/sea package. We stayed at the Boardwalk Villas on the last night, after getting off of the cruise. It was so nice. If I had the points I would do the whole thing at a 1 bedroom. The extra space was wonderful. We just wanted a quiet night in. We got take out pizza and just chilled out watching TV, and taking advantage of the washer and dryer. We got most of our laundry done before we came home:) :thumbsup2

I agree with many. Do the 1 bedroom. My husband and I book studios because it is just the two of us. I have stayed in a studio with a 12 year old and it was to small.

"Can't beats" in a 1BR:

1) Extra space
2) Laundry W/D in room
3) Extra space
4) Extra space

Did I mention extra space?!

Unfortunately (and fortunately) we have become 1BR :snooty:'s! We stayed in studios, one was HA and had a bit more space, but those 1BR's with small kids made a world of difference. Allowed us to "put the kids" to bed and still have space/time to ourselves each night. If you have the points, go 1BR.

I left out some vitial info. #1, I will be renting points. I have not made the jump YET to a DVC member.
#2 the cost is going to be about double for a one bedroom.

Now to answer a few of the questions:
The family gets along, about as well as you can with 2 boys.
I think both boys could fit on the pull out couch.

I do have one issue, I stayed in a 2 bedrom at bwv and loved it, but I got the room for a steal. Do you think it will be a big difference going from that to a studio?
Also is the studio the room that was one of the bedrooms of the two bedroom?? (I hope you get what I mean!!)

Thanks for all the help!! (I need it):scared1:

You can definitely do fine in a studio. From my own experience, we love the extra space and comfort of the one bedroom. We also feel we save a lot of $$$ and time by cooking in the room. Mostly breakfast, so we can eat and get going early, but the past few trips we have gone back for dinner - easy stuff like a frozen pizza, hot dogs etc... Then we head back to the park.

Also - with young kids, you can give them the bedroom, and you wont have to tip toe around if you want to stay up after they go to bed. You can watch TV, relax and unwind and not have to worry about waking them up.

A two bedroom to a studio is a HUGE difference in my opinion. To answer you question YES - the lockoff room of a two bedroom is the studio size, we had one in OKW.

Now that we have done the 1 bedrooms, I would not want to go back to a studio, it is that much nicer.

we love our 1 bedrooms but if we haven't enough points we go for a studio after all we are in Disney
The boys be that tired after a day in the parks or a day spending playing in the pool ,fighting is never a question
now if I tried to put them in the same bed or room at home there would be war

and my boys are 10 and 18

No matter if a 1br or a studio, unless you all sleep in the bed someone is going to have to sleep in the pull out. Other than OKW most studios only have 1 bed and pull out sofa, so all are going to have to double up unless you bring an air mattress!

Personally, I wake up earlier and sleep less than most family and friends I travel with, therefore it's almost always a two bedroom. I can do a studio, if it's OKW for a couple of nights no more, I get miserable if I can't move around etc.. so it costs me more in points but hey! if I'm not happy nobody's happy.

The first few times stayed in a studio. It was ok my girls were very young yet, less than three. But we added on and bought more points so then we decided to try a one bedroom. And all I can say if you are staying more then three nights it is so nice to have more room. We do still get a studio when we go to Vero Beach because we love the inn rooms so much. But there we only stay a few nights, so it's not too bad. But once you stay in a one bedroom it's hard to go back. I would like to add on more points still so we can stay in a two bedroom all the time. I love having room to walk around and I don't care how much or how little I stay in the room. And having a washer and dryer is so nice, I really don't cook on vacation outside of pouring a bowl of cereal, or a frozen pizza, but it's nice to have that option.
