Does anyone have any ideas of simple meals that could be made in a studio? Thanks!

We bring with stuff for sub sandwiches, BLT's(I buy the pre-cooked bacon), cereal, hot dogs(can of chili spices them up!), frest fruit and veggies..........I do not get very creative, but it saves so much $$$ to eat most of our meals in the room!

Easy Mac & Cheese, frozen pizza,a nice salad with chicken on top(around here, they have chicken tenders preseasoned and prepackaged), any of those frozen dinners(although there is not a ton of freezer space...you'd probably have to have a cooler and keep changing the ice).

I'd try frozen lasagna (most of them are microwave safe) or rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes (the refrigerated/frozen ones are very good). Salad, fresh fruit, fresh veggies. I've also made BLTs with the REAL bacon pieces in the jar. It actually works rather well.

Check out the deli (Publix usually has an excellent one) for potato salad or pasta salad. Our Publix carries sushi and California rolls which is a favorite for us.

I make scrambled eggs with cheese in the microwave for my kids almost every morning...turns out great...just remember to stop and stir in the middle of the cooking cycle. Frozen waffles in the toaster (I've never had the pre-cooked bacon...is it good?).

wow. Who knew you could do so much?

I was planning on cereal and PB&J. Nobody tell my DH.

I was going to try the ready to microwave soups along with crackers & cheese / cold cuts for supper. (after having a nice lunch out somewhere)

For breakfast toast or cereal.

We found great subs at Publix and at Winn-Dixie. We also got extra subs at Subway for the next day's lunch.

I was tempted to take my Crock-Pot but would not have used it.

I took my tabletop griddle but didn't use it due to ants in my BCV studio. I was planning to make grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes (pre-made mix), french toast, etc.

The microwave worked well for soup or hot dogs.

I buy precooked/marinated Butterball turkey that is microwavable. It's really good, low fat, and so EASY! They come in several flavors. Get the herb roasted and some one step microwaveable stovetop and you've got Thanksgiving in the studio!

A few potatos, frozen veggies and cheese make a great quick microwaveable meal.

We have made nachos (tostidos, salsa and shredded cheese). Microwave 1 minute on high or until the cheese is melted. This is a good snack or light meal.

We just stayed in a studio and brought our skillet. It worked out great. We had Steak for 2 nights and pork chops for 2 other nights. There were enough left overs for Lunches and another dinner. We also used the skillet to cook eggs on. The freezer had enough room to fit four packages of meat. We ate sandwich meat, soup and other things for Lunch. We had pop tarts, eggs, cereal, bagels and toast for Breakfast. We were there for 10 nights, ate every breakfast in, half of our lunches in the room and dinner for 5 of the nights. We of course had to have our character meals at Liberty Tree Tavern and Crystal Palace. Two of our favorites. There are so many things you can cook and I thought the Refrig was large enough to do it. Hope this helps.

We just got a George Forman grill for Christmas. I guess if you ahev oen of thsoe it would be easy to take. You can even do the veggies to go with your meats in the microwave. A complete dinner!

i am sorry I do not have any meal ideas to offer, but I had to post and tell Nick that his graphic was too funny.

Personally, never having stayed at DVC villas yet as we are new members, but looking forward to it, I guess I planned that the microwave would work best for us with any reheats from rest. that we might have. Thanks to those who did come up with some good ideas, though. ::yes::

If you are driving, or have a short flight and want to bring a carry on cooler, we've brought home cooked stuff like chili, spaghetti sauce and noodles, soup, etc with us. Freeze it in Ziploc or Gladware containers. Thaw and you have a home cooked meal with out the cooking. You'll know what kinds of things freeze well from the meals you usually prepare. A few "enhancements" from the store and you are set. I usually start cooking a few things about a month ahead, make me feel like I'm packing!!
Breakfast is usually bagels, English muffins, pop-tarts,etc.
There are paper goods in the studio (plates, bowls, etc). If you want something else, bring a few from home or get disposable plastic ones.
Folks on this board are very creative about meals in the studios and I'm sure others will chime in soon.
Enjoy your stay.

My family likes the Hormel dinners. They have a meatloaf, turkey, and roast. Doesn't come with sides, but they aren't bad.
They sell for less than $5 and are microwaveable.
Hot Roast Beef sandwiches are pretty easy in the micro also.

Nick ~ your smilies are awesome!
