Here goes some more ???'s that have probably been asked 10, 000 times.;)
In the AKV & OKW studio's are the coffee pots full sized? And what kind of paper products do they supply you with, such as paper plates & bowls, paper towels,coffee/drink cups and flatware? Just trying to figure what we should pack. ;) TIA

It's been a while since we stayed in a studio, but I think the coffee pot was full sized (10-12 cup). They provide paper plates and bowls. Plastic forks, knives and spoons (no sporks, thankfully). And they might be back to the ceramic mugs (usually two) and real glasses (usually four).

You'll have at least a roll, maybe two, of paper towels. Plus a kitchen sponge and some Palmolive dish detergent.

Have fun.

We've had both large and small coffee pots in a studio. If you get a small one but need the large one, just call housekeeping and they'll get it for you.

If you're like me, the small one just doesn't cut it. I want COFFEE in the morning.

The provided paper plates, bowls and eating utensils are pretty meager, IMO. They do provide "real" cups for coffee. We bring disposable plastic plates, bowls, plastic wine glasses and sturdy plastic "silverware", along with salt and pepper, coffee, coffee filters - the flat bottom, Mr. Coffee type, sugar and powdered creamer. We get whatever else we need (milk, soups, bread, cereal etc.) after we get there at Walmart. If you don't want to pack and lug that much stuff with you, you can wait and get it all after you arrive. We're just in the habit of taking most of it with us. It doesn't really take up all that much space.

We don't "cook" in a studio, but it's nice to have the necessary equipment at hand for breakfast or a quick lunch or snack. I miss the larger units' kitchens (and the W/D!), but when just the two of us go, we stay in a studio.

Have a good trip!

The problem with the paper plates and paper bowls is that you don't get very many of them (four of each) and since they aren't washable, you will run out after your first day. We bring some plastic disposable plates and bowls with us. They are lightweight and easy to pack and we can wash and reuse them while we're there and toss them out on our last day.

You will get enough coffee to make one pot of regular and one of decaf so we bring along enough coffee and filters for our stay. We also bring a few disposable leftover containers and some plastic bags to hold leftovers.

We ignore the coffee provided in the villas. It's AWFUL. I bring my own Starbucks.

Will they bring you more cups, bowls, etc if you ask? Seems like I remember seeing someone post that housekeeping would bring you more if needed. Maybe I dreamed it!:confused3

Is there a can opener provided at all?

It's a hand operated can opener, not electric.

I think you can ask for more paper plates and bowls. The bowls are very small, so I always bring 4 Glad containers with lids. We use them as cereal bowls and to store the leftovers from dinners. I've never needed more paper plates because if I make a sandwich, I just use paper towels, you get plenty of those. Also, sometimes you get many more than 4 of each paper product. I don't know if it depends on the resort.

One thing that I have found is that AKV gives you hand lotion that smells great...none of the other DVC's do that.

Bobbi:)

In a OKW studio right now.....full size coffee pot.
A big stack of paper bowls and small paper plates.
Lots of plastic forks and knives....there were only 2 spoons when we arrived. We had to get more.
3 ceramic mugs, 4 glass drinking glasses.
But....in the studio we had in Nov. we had only the styrofoam-type cups.
We had no sponge and on the cleaning, we lost our dish towel :(
The one thing we really miss is a REAL knife for cutting cheese and apples.

Meriweather, do you have a toaster? Did you ask for more paper bowls since there were only two in there?

There is a toaster.
There were a lot of bowls ;) Only 2 spoons.....we got more.
We also brought cheap ceramic bowls....figured if they didn't fit coming home, I would just toss them. Same with cups.....after only having paper last trip we got some big plastic ones at Wal-Mart for 25 cents and can just throw them away.

Since there is a toaster but no sharp knife in the studios we get the Thomas' pre-sliced bagels to bring. And I get those little individual cereals that are packaged in a plastic container so all you do is peel off the lid so I don't have to worry about the bowls. I also bring a small box of either Folgers or Maxwell House coffee that is already in a filter. They are these big round things that are almost like a big tea bag. Just like what they provide in a hotel room. That way I don't have to pack coffee and filters separately or worry about bringing the right kind of filters. You use 1 for a 1/2 pot or 2 for a full pot. One of the first things I do when we get to our room is inspect the quantity of plastic silverware etc. If we're short I call mousekeeping for a little more - it's not been a problem yet for them to bring us at least 1 more utensil or plate for each of us. The only time I worry about the bowls is if I also brought oatmeal packets to make in the microwave. We usually only eat breakfast in the villa - so I just handwash the silverware if needed to make it thru the week with what's provided.

Can anyone please tell me about the size of the fridge. I know it's under the counter size, but I'm wondering if it's big enough for a gallon of milk and some orange juice. Also, is the freezer big enough for a box of frozen waffles? Thanks!

I think the exact frig's vary from property to property. They are like dorm size. I am not sure about the height of the freezer area but you might be able to just take the plastic bag of waffles out of the box & shove it in if the box itself doesn't fit. I'd guess it's about 3-4" high inside the freezer compartment. We usually freeze our bottles of water overnight so we start out the day with cold waters. (During the summer they defrost pretty quickly.) Yes, you'd have room for a gal. of milk. We usually go with 1/2 gal. in the door so we have plenty of room for the BEER in the rest of the frig!!:rotfl:

freezer is pretty small you would need to take the waffles out of the box -we buy half gal of milk which fits better than gal. I had several bags of veggies, cheese, yogurts, etc. in the fridge this past week.
