Hey everyone! My husband and I will be staying in a studio at OKW for the first time in September. We are trying to do this trip on a budget, and only plan on eating out once a day during the trip, and they will likely be CS with the exception of one or two sit down meals.

We have no issues cooking in the villas, and actually love cooking on vacation. I have a small crock pot and a flat top electric griddle in my Owners Locker that we plan on utilizing for the week.

I have searched the boards for recipes for crock pots, or for studios and I came up with a few ideas but am looking for a few more still.

Anyone have any ideas for how to cook decent substantial meals using only a microwave, toaster, crock pot, griddle and the outdoor BBQ areas?

So far I came up with the below meals, and am not sure if they will work out well or not.

Breakfast

bagels
fruit
donuts

Lunch/ Dinner

crock pot shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches
crock pot meatball subs
hot dogs / frozen mac & cheese
crock pot fajitas
grilled chicken salads
pb&j
grilled cheese

Any other ideas?

Thank you!! :cool1:

We also bring a griddle often when staying in a studio. We love hot breakfasts, so we've used it for bacon, eggs, pancakes, sausage, french toast, etc. We also do grilled cheese and have cooked some meats on it (thin steak, thin chicken breasts).

We also bring soup and make that in the microwave as well as heat and eat meals.

Crock pot is all you need! Ham and egg breakfast casserole Overnight oatmeal Chicken curry Beef stew Chili BBQ pork Tacos Baked beans cheese fondue. Vegetable soup. Bread pudding. Rice pudding. Cheese lasagna. So much more. The question is what can't you cook on a crock pot.

DW usually makes a one pot meal:
Stew
Soup
Lasagna
As we usually stay in studios, these work out great for reheating in the microwave. We sometimes will eat breakfast out and then depending on what we are doing that day either lunch or dinner in the room every day.

We use the BBQ grills a lot. We'll put on hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ chicken, ribs and steaks. Then we heat things up in the microwave. Not gourmet, but still good and reasonably priced.

Get a microwave egg poacher. Bacon can also be cooked in microwave. Put poached egg, bacon and cheese on English muffin to make a breakfast sandwich.

We used the grill earlier this month at BWV for the first time and had steaks. We will definitley be using it again. The grill adds many things to the list.

I take the biscuit cut pieces of country ham and eat on english muffins with an egg from my microwave cooker.

With that many small appliances there is not much you cant cook. Eggs beny for the morning or quick oatmeal. Ive bbq many breakfast in the am. Your crock will make amazing ribs of all flavors. Google crock pot recipes and you will have endless. The griddle is a small stove, imagine it and you can cook it. Ive even done a cake in the crock.
My only tip is look for things that you can use the same ingredients for so you don't have to pack a lot. Have ribs one night then use the leftovers, stripped and cooked and liquid added for great pulled pork sandwich next day.
Good luck and now Ive made myself hungry, and I just finished lunch:stir:
