student teaching in the fall

Hey everyone. I had a question for those of you who may or will be in this situation. I will graduate in May and will student teach in the fall and be totally done in Dec. I'm having the issue of where to live because I cant live in a dorm after i graduate, my parents want me to live at our vacation home which is in the middle of nowhere, and I want to get an apt with a friend. The only problem is is that the lease is 12 months and my parents want me to move home after Dec and refuse to pay, so I have NO idea what to do. My dad said he would not sign the lease papers for the summer until I got a job and could pay for it, but that would be pointless then if they didnt let me live there in the spring too. And I would feel horrible letting my friend down that was counting on living with me.

what would you do??

I am also am having a problem with moving out of my house. My parents what me to stay and will not help me if I move out.

I say that if you are going to have a job and know that you will be able to pay the rent and everything that goes along with that... and your personal expences then you should go for it. But if you think that you are going to have some problems then you may what to go home and save up some money before you take the step to move out.

I was fortunate enough to ahve my student teaching in the community in whihc I live as I have kids and a DH who works att he University, otherwie I would ahve had to relocate which is no fun. If it was me I would move back in with my family and make the commute. I mean, I ahve commuted 1.5 hours each way for work and school for years so commuting doesn't bother me. But the fre rent is a bonus, esp as I have had to pay my own way through school.

Anyways, many of my friends have had to find someone who had 6 month leases, even if they are not in the desired complexes. Others ahve had to find someone who is subleasing, or a roommate who would be likely to find a roommate when you leave.
