DVC Chit Chat Thread

2027 is looking pretty lean for me point-wise. I did something crazy and borrowed heavily from 2027 to book 3 nights in a CCV cabin this summer. It's tough to get my boys interested in going at all these days, and I wanted to do something special.

I'm going to regret it in 2027 though! The silver lining is that I have a fully booked 2026 WDW agenda!

I guess I could always borrow from 2028....

I think you should buy some VDH points.

On a DVC stay. Since we have a guest this trip that wanted to do parks, we did the 3 day deal for $325 that started yesterday. Now I remember why I don’t do parks anymore. Stood and watched them load 2x the number of guests with lightning lane than regular. ***? People with lightning didn’t pay twice the ticket cost of those without, so why load twice as many???

Also had a cast member insist we had to try and load 4 people in a row before they would split us up. 3 of us filled the row and the large member of our party hadn’t even gotten in yet. So we had to all crawl out and wait for next load. We’ve ridden that load back when and it didn’t work. Just looking at us says wouldn’t work. But according to cast member we needed to try and fail first. I’m not able to jump in and out like a spring chicken anymore. How frustrating.

The direct purchase sweat towel - the one that comes with the gold water bottle. How do you use it? Do you wet it and freeze it? Was about to put all of mine in my pixie dust pile for my next cruise, but I actually might use the towels if they are good for staying cool.

This is all highly dependent on how much downtime there has been on that ride that day. There are times when there has been a downtime and the LL is just as backed up as the regular line so the ration of LL to standby needs to be adjusted to allow the LL to catch back up.

This is has been the SOP since when Fastpass was instituted years ago. The only difference is that when a ride went down in the Fastpass era they would also stop distributing Fastpasses to allow the catch up to happen a bit more easily. That's no longer the case.

They are doing it not for the LL purchasers but the DAS users.

LLs contain both guests that have paid for LL but also those disabled guests (DAS users) that Disney have determined are unable to wait in a line for more than a few minutes due to their disability. So if the ride gets backed up or the LL gets backed up they have to move through it quickly for those guests, which means LL purchasers get put through quickly as well.

So a side effect is that LL purchases go a long way and standby slows down. Whether that is by design or by accident

You’d think since it’s now computerized they could stop with the LL when the ride is down

Das users aren’t promised, nor do they need promised, no wait. They are given expedited loading.

Ive used others. You get them wet with cold water and you stick in freezer while slightly wet. They work well for about an hour. I don’t love feeling of something damp around my neck.

At WDW the LLs are booked days in advance and the popular rides during busy times can sell out of the entire day's allotment of LLs before off-property guests get a chance to book.

And at DLR, even though you can't book LLs until after you enter the park, all LLs for the day for popular rides can disappear quickly.

They've painted themselves into a corner and there is little wiggle room for when rides go down. It can be very frustrating to see how they're loading LL guests vs. standby guests. Though I hate paying extra for LL, I've done it my past few trips at both WDW & DLR, and have had a nicer experience with it.

This video is long (an hour and 45 minutes) but if you are any sort of interested in how this functionally works and the history of Fastpass and it's history and how it functionally interacts with the day to day guest I highly recommend this video below. It's very informative and also very fun.

Indeed they are not promised no wait. But LL purchasers and DAS users are promised short or at least shorter waits. And sometimes they have to load proportionally more of the LL compared to the standby in order to keep that promise. Which is the expedited loading you are talking about. I'm not sure why you have such a big issue with it

There’s also premier pass and vip. I’d bet they paid twice the price.
