Does anyone know the weight capacity of the Disneyland rental strollers? We are bringing our 5 year old (who would be horrified to ride in a stroller!!) who gets pretty tired out after a lot of walking. I'm curious if the rental strollers would even accommodate his weight.

I don't really know the weight limit, but have seen some fairly large children ride in the rental strollers. Older than 5 easy, or not small by any means. As far as your 5 year old not wanting to be in a stroller. We have taken our own stroller for our 4 and 6 year olds...they both normally wouldn't step foot in the thing, however, after a lot of walking at Disney, they fight over who's turn it is to sit in the stroller! We have always taken our own, as the walk back to the hotel with sleepy kids is a very long walk carrying a heavy child! We use our stroller as a pack mule through the airport and use it to carry in drinks and snacks in the bottom of the basket that we bring from the hotel room. Strollers have been a lifesaver for us at Disney even with a 5 or 6 year old.

So true - after a long day I don't we'd get much of a fight about riding in a stroller for a while.

He is a big, tall boy - 50 lbs at age 5 and he'll likely be 51-52 by the time of our trip in April. I was thinking that being able to use a stroller throughout the park might be helpful even though we can't take it offsite (he'll just have to walk back to the hotel - we haven't owned a stroller in about 2 years and I'm sure not buying one!) And I hadn't even thought about a stroller being useful for packing stuff around, but you're exactly right!

I've seen adults being pushed in them (not seriously or for long) and the strollers didn't collapse. I'm sure your 5 yo will be fine.

As for putting stuff in it...we've had things stolen from our stroller, so we carry it all.

I'm pretty sure that they are made of hard plastic...and the have a mesh sack in the back if it...hope that helps.

The strollers at WDW are hard plastic, I think the ones at DL are more a jogging stroller style (at least that is what they were last time I was there). I do remember that you can collapse them to go on the train at DL.

Anyway, I think your 5 year old will be okay in it when you need it.

Yes, the strollers are jogging stroller type. I am not positive, but I think the maximum weight is somewhere around 55-65 pounds. I remember that because DD8 was wanting to ride in one and I was telling her she couldn't because of the weight limit.
