Strollers on the tram

Hi,

We're thinking of renting a jogging stroller for our 2-year-old, but looking at the larger ones for occasional ride by our (gasp) 7 y/o. Are the BOBs too big to fit on the tram when folded? Am I better off with the city mini GT, which can technically hold her weight? What about the City elite? Thanks!

I have never taken a stroller on the tram. It just looks too difficult and complicated. Even if we are parked in the back of the lot, we just walk. If you think about it, you're walking all day, what a few extra steps, right?

1. Bob's are FANTASTIC for pushing
2. Bob's are TERRIBLE for being heavy & huge (when folded)

Pick your pro vs. con my friend. I will have the pleasure of an even more beastly double stroller (Bumbleride) for our twin toddlers.

Our City Elite is huge when folded up. I can't even lift it. I have to walk it (bounce the wheel and spin it). If I were you, I'd go to a store and look at all the strollers and fold them up so you can see how big they are.

I think the City Mini GT is still decently big when folded (more than the regular City Mini). I think its only like 3 or 4 lbs lighter than the Elite.

I'd just walk instead of worrying about the trams IMO.

We have a bob duallie. Way too much of a pain for the trams, especially since some Disney genious thought putting doors on the trams now was a good idea. I love this stroller! It's wonderful at Disney, but it is so much easier just to park and walk in. We usually beat the trams in. MK can be a little longer but at the other parks it is super quick. How much does your 7 year old weigh? Ate you wanting to rent a double?

When we were doing our baby registry, we registered for the lightest weight, easiest to fold stroller we could find that wasn't crazily expensive. Yeah, we're theme park geeks. I agree with the above poster who said to go to the store and try them. You may find that buying an inexpensive stroller (ours is a "Jeep" stroller from Walmart) may be your best bet. You could even have it shipped to your resort and then gift it to another family when you leave. This is the one we got: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Jeep-Cherokee-Sport-Stroller-Siren/17783191?findingMethod=rr

Now for baby to get here so we can use it! :)

How much does your 7 yr old weigh? We bought a lightweight umbrela-style stroller - First Years Ignite - for our 5 yr old. It has a weight limit of 50 lbs, has a decent sunshade and storage basket, and it reclines (which was great as DS napped in it a few times). Plus, it was only $50. Perhaps something like that would work for you.

They do fit on the Tram but its a tight fit...

Believe me, they will not go until all strollers have been folded completely. There was this couple that were from another country and their child was asleep in the stroller. They tried to get away with...don't understand english...and keep the stroller open with child asleep. After about 10 minutes, they finally picked the child up and folded it. We were so mad! Everyone was tired and wanted to get to their car.

We rent mountain buggy strollers when we visit and when we use the trams sit in the front in the front if each car where the two rows face each other, it helps alot. Check out the mountain buggy strollers we love them www.disneyworldstrollers.com

Intrigued by the Mountain Buggy Urban Jungle. Need to see how it folds. Otherwise leaning towards the City Mini GT. It's probably unlikely that my 7 y/o is going to ride in the stroller that I shouldn't revolve the rental around her.

Thank you all for your help!

We rented a City Elite for our 1st trip.....they are heavy!! and bulky when folded. Last year I bought a City Mini before our trip.....it is much lighter, but still a little bulky (but not nearly as bad as the City Elite). If you have a large baby store near you, I would consider going there and checking out the strollers....trying the fold mechanism and the weight, and also letting your DD try them out for size. That's what I did before I bought the City Mini. :goodvibes

We have brought our Mountain buggy urban double and have rented one and if we drive we just walk from the car to the main gate. Its not far and far less stressful. With 5 people we end up with a lot of stuff and taking it out, folding, wrangling kids... its just easier to walk. AND most times we beat the tram.
