Strollers on buses

Where are strollers put on the buses? Do you carry them on our are they put in storage? We have a family with children ages 8, 5, 5, and 10 months at the time of our trip. Obviously the infant will need the stroller. Just wondering how much of a hassle it is to take a stroller on the busses?!?!? Or should we drive everywhere since we will have our car??

Do you mean the buses used from the parks to resorts or do you mean the bus from the airport to the resorts?

If you mean the buses to and from parks, you need to fold the stroller up and take it with you on the bus. There is no storage under the buses. It's not to bad bringing them on the buses during non-peak times but it can be a hassle at closing and opening times since the buses tend to get very full.

Yeah that is what I was asking about!! It seems like it would be crazy especially during the peak times to get the stroller and the kids on the bus. Or am I just worrying about it too much and everything will just work out when we are there??

I think it will depend partly upon what type of stroller you have. We are planning a trip with our first little one in May and bought a smaller stroller specifically for trips like WDW, mainly b/c we went a couple years ago with my sister and 3yo niece and DS brought her mammoth every day stroller. Luckily we were there in December and most of the time the buses were never filled so there wasn't an issue getting on but manuevering if there were people got tricky. Plus you had to sit with it in front of you if there was no other space. People do it all the time though just be prepared if it is at the end of the day and the buses are full - you may have to wait for the next one to get on.

Oh my God! Just came back and went with the big ol' Peg Perego. Big mistake! I wanted to take it because the little guy is squirmy and needs that 5 point harness thing and I love the big basket. It was such a PITA folding it up and carrying it on the bus. If you can get away with an umbrella stroller, do it or rent at the parks!

My main stroller is a big combi. When my dd was 14 months old I did not want to deal with it on the buses at Disney. We got a cheap easy fold stroller that reclines. I think I got it for $40. Since then I have used that as my travel stroller. My dd is now 37 months and a little big for it. We will be taking my big combi in 3 weeks. My dh will have the job of folding and carrying. I know it will be a hassle but I also know my dd will be more comfortable.

You do have to carry the stroller on & off the busses. I think strollers are a pain, well DH does - he's the one lugging it on & off the busses. We would usually rent one if we needed it for our kids but this year we'll be travelling with our 3 month old so we'll be taking my big stroller. I'll need the basket in the bottom for storage, the big sunshade (I even bought an extension for it)and fully recline. It is one of the lightweight full size Graco but it will still be a pain I'm sure.

the smaller, more compact the stroller the better!!! You do need to carry it on and off the buses with you. We usually try to get a spot in one of the seats where there is a space to keep it but it doesn't always work that way and then its a royal pain!!!

I wouldn't recommend renting a stroller at the parks for a 10 month old, they are big plastic strollers, not very comfy for such a young child.

We managed with a huge sit n stand one trip, it wasn't a piece of cake, but it wasn't horrible either. DH is usually in charge of the stroller while I get the kids on the bus. Our last trip with a Peg P3 was easier, but I looked forward to the next trip when we'd be down to a tiny umbrella stroller until, oops! baby #3 is on the way.

Definitely a smaller stroller will work better for the buses. Something lightweight and fairly compact.

We will be taking a graco travel stroller. It is lightweight, folds up reasonably small, has a sunshade, and does recline. It has a small basket down below. It is by no means as convenient as the mammouth one I use at home (I wish the basket were bigger, the handles are kinda short and now that ds is getting pretty tall his head is nearing the sunshade) However, it was not in our budget to get anything fancy. We used this one last year on vacation to the zoo and ds (then 10 months) was very comfortable in it. Wehave used it for various other things over the last year (it is our second stroller). We purchased ours on clearance at target about 2 years ago, but i saw them last week at Walmart with mickey and minnie fabric! I almost bought it just for the fabric I think it was about 30-35 bucks . I would recommend looking at it if you have a younger child, and are considering a cheaper alternative to renting, and wanting something that is not going to be a hassle on the bus.

We ended up driving on our last trip (we stayed in FW at the cabins so it was easy since our car was parked right there). We tried the buses but after trying to fit into the buses with a double umbrella stroller while holding onto two kids (one who needed to be carried) while a ton of other people where trying to cram themselves onto the bus, we gave up. We went to Disney last time in Sept. so there was not much traffic on the roads and we almost always got to park close to the park entrances (except for MK).
