Strollers...I need to get this off my chest

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 I was serious!!!!!!!! I just found out I was pregnant and we are starting to look at baby items - I was going to ask some opinions on everyday strollers (not disney one's) but I take it that would be something not to do.... :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

...well, CONGRATULATIONS!

I, too, am a newbie. And yes, I do need to decide what stroller to bring and/or buy and/or swap and/or rent, etc.

And Yet, I thought the OP was hilarious. I've only been reading for a couple weeks and every day I see NEW stroller threads.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the OP. I certainly didn't find it hostile. Nor I am offended. I will not leave and go to a different more friendly board.

AND just like all the advice to ignore the stroller threads if you aren't interested/you don't like them --perhaps the people who are offended by sarcasm and tongue in cheek posts should ignore these type of posts.

Agree 100%!!!!
My kids are way past the stroller age. We owned many, many single and double strollers over the years. We preferred to rent when we went to WDW once the kids were old enough to be comfortable in them.

I DO just ignore the endless stroller questions on here, but I still found the OP to be a VERY funny lady:rotfl2: !

Lighten up folks......

It is also just the nature of all on-line communities to get new people on a daily basis who ask many of the same questions that have already been asked and answered countless times. Often I feel sorry for them. So I will sometimes take the time to answer the "When is the best time to go to WDW?" and "Will it be hot/crowded when I go?" questions. They have NO IDEA how many times these things have been hashed out already:goodvibes !

Geez...if you hate the repeated questions about the strollers on the "Disney for Families" page, then I bet the repeated questions about the bus system on the "Disney Transportation" page, or the repeated questions about "which resort to choose" on the "Resorts" page will really make you blow your top!

The questions being asked about strollers...are different, since each family situation is different.

I am fairly sure there will be more questions about strollers in the future so hang on to your panties!

Add me to the list of folks who have asked about strollers recently. I've made quick purchases in the past, and been really unhappy with the results. Our upcoming Disney trip is just a catalyst for updating our stroller choice, and I received invaluable advice from other moms here (on the board and via PM) who gave me feedback based on their actual experiences with their stroller (at home and on vacation) . . . got a lot of great, unexpected tips, too, on saddlebags, etc. Some ideas were in response to my post, some found via the search function (in the rare cases it works--add me to the list of people who find it not working at least half the time). Thanks to those who helped me so much!

Does kindness exist anymore????? Do we really need newbie hazing can't there just be positivity on these boards? It is so much easier to say something nice then something negative even if it was meant to be funny.

I think she may have been joking on this one too. I am pretty sure that she doesn't jump on new people and give them grief when they post the first few times. But a funny post like this one should be laughed at and then taken with a grain of salt.

I thought this post was funny, laughed at loud however, if I needed to and I couldn't find info in the last couple of pages I wouldn't hesitate to post a new post on strollers, and I am pretty sure the OP wouldn't comment directly to me or on my thread to stop asking questions it was just a bit of fun.

Multiple posts on the same subject happen on all the boards. I've posted questions that are very similar to other questions when after looking for my answers I realize that although there might be other posts about a similar subject they do not fully cover the question I wanted to ask. And, posters should be able to ask their questions from other posters no matter how many times a similar question has been asked. If you don't want to read a thread skip over it.

The other problem is that there is no tone of voice in something written so even if a poster thinks everyone gets their humor some may not. I recommend re-reading posts before hitting the send button.

Lastly, "hazing" newcomers will not be allowed on the DIS boards. They are the ones with the most questions. Sometimes they are intimidated posting their questions and it is not fair and not nice to be rude to them.

Thank you for this - maybe I will go and post my stroller question now :) I'm going to be a first time mommy and I have TONS of questions regarding baby gear!

Thanks for keeping the dis a friendly place!

Post with abandon, and don't worry about what others think. You'll get wonderful info here. There are always new people coming on board, and threads move fast, so even if someone asked the same question yesterday, you could get new/different feedback today.

First, congrats! Second, post away!!!! Ask what you want...I have never understood why one would be really that bugged about simply seeing or reading the title of a thread on a subject that may be repeated. If you are a stroller pro, read it, if you could care less, move on! I don't know jack or care about the BBB, and I skip through the mass of threads on that. Doesn't bother me one bit!

Now, my recommendations...
First, get the Baby Bargains book. It is the best and can sort through all the hubub of the sea of baby gear.
Chicco Cortina Travel System
Maclaren Quest!!!!

Hah! Figured I may as well help you out on this thread!

My sincere apologies... it just occurred to me what you thought I meant.
Here's what I meant to say:

If one (or several) of my posts are driving you crazy, or my post this morning on misting fans was the millionth one you've read, feel free to PM a friend and complain. Have a good laugh at my expense, and I'll never know about it.

I most certainly did NOT mean to imply you should PM me and tell me I'm an idiot. (Although it may be the case.. it took a good half hour after reading that comment for it to sink in:rolleyes: )

I try to PM someone and tell them they're an idiot AT LEAST once per day. I'll get this board straightened out eventually.;)

Seriously, I'd never go on a newbie thread and pick on them for asking the question. Why are they coming on to this thread and picking on us for being tired of seeing them? Doesn't seem quite fair...

I think the OP has the same sense of humor as I do because I found the post hilarious. :rotfl:

when you are a newbie, yeah it may seem 'offensive' or whatnot, but give yourself a couple months and you too will want to post this same type of post.

It is really all in good sport. :goodvibes

And on that note....

No, no one will steal your stroller. I promise. Although if you plan to buy a $500+ stroller you may for your own piece of mind lock the front wheels, heck for MY piece of mind, lock your wheels!

And dare I ask? What's so special about a Maclaren? ;)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'll admit to laughing too! The stroller threads always crack me up. I do, however, have a friend who is a self-confessed "stroller snob" so I always think of her when I'm on this board. I have a double Peg Perego or something like that and it's always been fine for us.

OP I think your post was hilarious!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I think it was on the money and so funny! People- lighten up! It was meant in jest. Yeah- when I see 10 threads about the same thing started everyday I have to shake my head too. FTR- I have strated some of those very same types of threads!:rotfl: Oh- and I have a Mac if you have any questions- along with a 2 gracos, (single and double) a triple jogger (that's right- triple!) and another single stroller (I forget the name). I have also tried the cheapy $12 ones also. So yeah- love those stroller threads!:lmao:

I agree, OP! Your post is hysterical!

And I was one of those people who agonized over this decision! I am proud to say that I have purchased a 2006 model Maclaren Volo for our upcoming trip because of what I read on these boards. And it is just as nice as the 2007 model!!! And for only $69.99 on babyestore.com!! To rent would have cost me that much in 7 days! What a bargain!!!:woohoo:

First of all. I love this forum! I'm a newbie and this year will be my first trip to Disney since i was 4 yrs old! IT has answered alot of my questions, eased my fears, and got me really excited about a trip I wasnt looking all that forward to and now I sing Disney songs all day while counting down! :goodvibes

Second, I think its great that ppl can post their views and opinions even if they tick other ppl off! Its free to express yourself, even if no one agrees with you. I dont find this post at all offensive, i find it amusing and honest!!!:rotfl:

Third of all, i agree. Its a stroller! Come on...whats the big deal. I have 2 boys and never stressed about stroller purchases. I buy within my means and rent when I'm out places...if i feel the absolute need. :cutie:

I too loved this one, really gave me a good laugh.

But on a serious note...if the search function worked right I think a lot of the redundant questions that make everyone so crazy would not be so common. ;)
