Strollering Along At The World (Finally!)- A PTR (Feb '12)*TR Started 2/12*

Ok folks, we have a bit of a trip change here. I've been thinking about December a lot lately and realized that going to WDW, planning and having Alex's first birthday party AND Christmas all back to back would make us CARAZY!!!!! So, we have decided to go in November instead which just makes the trip that much closer so I"m SUPER excited!!!!!!! We are now going November 11th - 18th and will be there for my BFF's (Becca) birthday! I've never gotten to be with her in person to celebrate her birthday so this is going to be an AWESOME treat! AAANNNDDD Trentmom (Kelly aka Sharky) who is also here on my PTR will be there with her family around the same time. We'll be overlapping by a few days so we'll hook up with them at a park at some point while we're there. Did I already say I'm super excited!? LOL

Ok so here's the Mock Itenerary:

Thursday November 10th:Drive through the night down to Orlando. We figure this will be easiest since Alex sleeps through the night and this way we can just drive and not worry about making a million stops for him on the way making our 7-8 hour drive 9-10 hours.

Friday November 11th: Arrive at WL, let Chris sleep while I entertain Alex at the resort for a while. Once Chris wakes up we'll go to DTD and have dinner with my Grandmother.

Saturday November 12th:
8am: Morning EMH @ DHS (Alex is a morning person)
12pm: Back to resort for break & nap
4pm - Close: Back to DHS for more fun and Osbourn lights if they're up. I hope they are!

Sunday November 13th:
9am: AK. Don't want to do much here but let Alex see the animals and go on M&M's nature path thing and Rafiki's.
12pm: Back to resort for break and nap
4pm: MK for MVMCP. Won't stay till close but want Alex to see the parade and fire works and ride a few rides while the lines are short.

Monday November 14th:
Beach (if it's not too cool out) & relax day

Tuesday November 15th:
8am: Morning EMH @ EPCOT. We're going straight for the character spot as soon as it opens.
12pm: Back to resort for break & nap
4pm - close: EPCOT

Wednesday November 16th:
Relax Day - no plans - Becca's birthday :woohoo:

Thursday November 16th:
8am: Morning EMH @ MK
12pm: back to resort for break & nap
3pm - close: MK

Friday November 17th:
Relax - DTD - Sleep as much as possible (mostly Chris) then drive through the night back home :sad1:

So there you have it folks. These things are subject to change but that's what I have for now. To those that have gone with babies/young kids, does this look reasonable for an almost one year old?

YAY for change of dates :cool1:

In looking at your schedule, I think best day to do a meet is on the 12th at DHS.

Since we don't do mornings, when u come back later in the day, that would work

I think your schedule looks great..plenty of rest time for Alex

Going be a blast :wizard:

Sounds good to me Kelly! Afternoon is fine. We can let the boys go ride ST for a while haha :goodvibes

It's always nice when you get to move a trip forward :)

I haven't gone with young kids yet but your schedule looks great to me.

hey, I had to come HERE to read about this?? LOL I guess you didn't want to make me any more jealous than I already am (and that would be SUPER DUPER)

Your plans look great! I so understand about driving at night...so much easier with little ones as long as the driver gets enough sleep prior!

It sure is!!

Thank you :thumbsup2

Aww sorry I didn't fill ya in. It was sort of a spur of the moment decision really. Only person I told other than Chris was Kelly 'cause I knew she was going around the same time. I wish I could put you in my suite case and bring you along.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking. I hope my theory is right  And yes, Chris will be sleeping from the moment he gets home from work till we hit the road to Orlando. I have complete faith in him that he'll get us there safely. He drove all night after a full day at the parks when we went in July 'cause I wanted to get home. I was pregnant and exhausted and hating being at Pop since it was under construction. He drove while I passed out in the passenger seat. It was nice. :goodvibes He hated it though

Cool

Sounds like a plan

:thumbsup2 can't wait!

I think moving up your trip was a smart decision! December is already so filled with things...this way you can relax more on your trip and see friends!

So cool that you'll get to meet Kelly!!:cool1:

Your schedule looks good. Just remember, Alex may not sleep/nap/rest when you have planned. This is what we found out with Elizabeth and Rachel. Kids get stimulated and over stimulated and sometimes schedules are all over the place.

If you recall from my earlier TR, Elie particularly would nap one day really early and the next really late and it never seemed to be when I had it 'planned'. She would always seem to fall asleep on the way out of the parks, in the SUV on the way back to the resort, etc, esp around 11:30 - 1pm. Then when we got to the room -- she'd be wide awake and wanting to crawl around ... just when we wanted to crash!

And forgot to mention, the dates you chose for November are going to be just perfect!! Very low crowds and still really nice weather with the Xmas decorations going up more!! We went that week about 3 years ago and it was wonderful!:thumbsup2

Your plans look great... except I think I am missing something. You have an Wed. 11/16 and a Thursday 11/16. Oh.. nevermind... I see. You ended on the 17th but really you are ending on the 18th. :goodvibes

plans look good, i did want to make one suggestion, that we have found in the last two trips that we could go with the masses and get the FP for soarin first thing then make it back to the character connection right away for the characters and only had like a 2 minute wait, as 95% of the people were going to soarin or test track.

you could even just have one of you go get the Fast passes and the other wait by the character connection for them.

just a thought for you.
:)

How exciting moving up your dates!!

Thanks! I can't believe the trip is now only about 4 months out! Ack!!

Yay for overlapping with Kelly! Now y'all just have to talk Betsy into changing her dates! :thumbsup2

Yes I"m excited to get to see Kelly again. ooo is she planning on going again? OOhhh Betsy! I think you need to come see me and Kelly young lady!

Thanks Marsha, you're so right! I just couldn't see having December that jam packed again like it was last year with Alex's birth and all. That was nuts!

I've met Kelly before (year before last when we went for xmas '09) but I'm looking forward to seeing her again.

Ugh! Yeah....I figure if he gets tired while we're at the parks he'll sleep in his stroller which I'm fine with. I just wanted to plan some down time for all of us. That way if he hasn't napped already hopefully he will in that 4 hour window we're back at the resort. We'll see though. Of course, if he gets cranky before the scheduled break I'm willing to break earlier. I know it's going to be a MUCH different trip with a baby. He's already trying to not nap at all during the day which is what my Mom said me and my older sister did as young babies.

I'm so glad to hear that the dates we chose in November are so good :goodvibes I know December our dates fell around Pop Warner again and that kinda sucked in '09 but I couldn't do it the week of Alex's birthday either so this works out for the best all the way around. I can't wait to go! When you went this week before, were the Osbourn lights up?

oooo THANKS for that tip Dan!! Chris doesn't like Soarin' but I love it so that will be great for me! I almost always miss it because I'm the only one that wants to ride it LOL. How long did it take y'all to get through the character spot?

not a problem,

if you like test track, we have always found that we get the FP for soarin do the character spot and still make it to test track with the wait really not that long.

well the longest we have waited in the line is about 5 minutes then it just depends on how long you spend with the characters it can be 10 minutes of characters or 20 minutes depending on you and the people in front of you.

after you see one character, you go to the next, but there might be 1 or 2 people finishing up there before its your turn.

they try and keep it short but sometimes a family in front of you can take some time with them, which is understandable.

Ah I"ll have to remember that about TT :) Thanks again!

Okay, sounds like they've got it set up pretty good then. I just didn't want to be spending hours on end in there. We've tried to go through a few times just the two of us but it's always a HUGE line so we always skipped it since we didn't have any kids. Now it's a must do for sure so thanks again for the tips! I'm looking fwd to seeing all those characters at once. :goodvibes

not a problem, just hit it early and you will be good.

now the old toon town, they always opened like 15 minutes early than announced in the time guide, not sure what they do now, but we always hit that then went straight to the fairies and princesses before they got long, but not sure if they changed stuff from the construction or not.
f:confused3

Toon Town is completely closed off. It's weird to see it missing from the map. That whole area from the speedway to pinnochio's is fenced off. Take the train all the way around while you are there and you can take a peek at what is to come! :thumbsup2

Yeah I knew about Toon Town before but as Nicole said, it's closed off now that much I know. Thanks though :thumbsup2

Awesome! We'll definitely take a ride on the train. Is Barn Stormer still open?

Yeah, she is going like ten days before

we need to change that
