Stroller without Canopy?

I was planning on bringing our stroller in August. DS (4) still uses it daily to go to and from the bus stop so I know he will stay in it most the time. However, this stroller is over 7 yo and has seen better days, but it is lightweight and I love my cup holders. The canopy on the stroller was lost/misplaced/broken a couple years ago. Will a stroller without a canopy be an extremely bad option in August?

I think you really do need a canopy in the heat. What you can do is look for an umbrella for strollers. I bought one by Jolly Jumper, one piece clicks onto the frame and the umbrella can be clicked on or removed easily when not used.

A canopy in August would be your best option. With that said, your son is 4 (not a little bitty baby) so he may fare okay with out it.

With young kids that are going to be in a stroller the entire time I vote canopy. For a kid that's going to use it for breaks and such I don't know if I would invest $$ in a brand new stroller for one trip to the World (unless you get a great deal on it)!

We went last August and a canopy was very much needed. Not only did it protect DS from the sun, but it also helped him not get drenched in the rain!

See, you can tell again we're from Florida ... sigh.

We don't have a canopy on our stroller, it's less than a year old, but I tossed it the day we bought it when I folded up the thing and it popped off and hit me in the face. This is our "disney" stroller, and I knew how often I would be folding it ... and well, I like NOT getting popped in the face.

I digress. My daughter is two, and we go often ... yet the no canopy thing doesn't bother her. She wears a hat, and we're big on sunscreen ... but she's never burned at Disney. If I'm worried about the rain, we do have a rain shield (or a poncho) that will fit over her stroller. She also doesn't sit too much, she's more interested in running all over the place than sitting. Bring a hat and convince him to wear it ... and he should be fine.

Here is a cheap option for you to have a canopy for your stroller. If you think that you would want it. My dd who is currently 6 loves to pull the canopy down when she is tired or the sun is in her face.

I would for sure not go in August without a canopy, that sun is VERY intense!
