Stroller trouble with POFQ bus????

I have read several mentions on this board of people who would not recommend POFQ because they had trouble with strollers on the buses. What exactly does this mean???? We are staying at POFQ in September and we will have a stroller for our 1 year old, and since we also have 3 other children it would be our preference not to have battles on the bus over a stroller :-) Our only other mod experience is CBR last summer and we had no trouble at all with the buses and a stroller. We will have a car, so we can drive and we probably will for certain things, but I just would like to be prepared. So anyone with experience at POFQ and traveling with a stroller on the bus, please share - good or bad. Thanks!

Hi

Wanted to add my two cents. We were there this past December and had no trouble. Actually staying at FQ is better than Riverside because the bus stops there first, we always got a seat and had no trouble with stroller. It was nuts once Riverside folks got on and had to stand. Loved FQ, it was small, easy to navigate and very peaceful. Loved the boat to DD also.

Have fun. Counting down the days until we go back! :hourglass

Our family has always stayed at POFQ and have never had a problem with strollers - and for a short period of time, we had two of them. Granted, getting on any bus with a stroller has its problems (folding and unfolding) but it's not a problem there.

POFQ is great for little ones. The pool is fun and the resort is small.

we stayed there this past jan 2006.....had the SIT N STAND yikes, big and NOOOOO problem at all? not sure whay this was mentioned, but DEF stay there ( we LOVE it there) and BRING your stroller ,good luck~! NO WORRIES@@

We experienced trouble getting onto the bus. Leaving the resort is exactly like what the other poster mentioned, you'll get a seat because POFQ is the first stop. But coming back, the bus loads by whoever is first in line. We found the bus ques always to be crowded, not always having everyone fit with the one bus and having to wait for a second bus and then end up standing with my child and stroller. It didn't happen every trip but we did experience this leaving the parks.

lilolover,

Was this at parK closing or during the day as well. I doubt our one year old will be at park closing (dad or mom may have the older kids out that late, but no stroller needed for them). We are traveling the first week of September (but after Labor day), so we are hopeful the crowds will be less and perhaps this will impact the bus issue as well.

Thanks also to all who shared positive experiences with the buses and strollers - good to hear!

This is true of buses to any and every resort (after fireworks, etc.) and has nothing to do with POFQ itself.

I decided to rent strollers at the parks, and I enjoyed not having to mess with them on the buses. I'm gonna do the same this November when I stay at POFQ for the first time.

I had a similar experience too. Leaving the resort is not usually a problem but the return is a different story. We experienced the full buses returning to POFQ/POR midday and at the end of the day. Park closing is depends on time of year. There are times when AK closes at 5:00pm, MGM 7:00pm and so on. Those aren't that late in the evening. There were times, that queue was busting out of the seams with guests.

This is true but I experienced it midday to late afternoon. With my little one I was not doing any park closings either.

We had a double stroller and didn't experience any problems with taking the stroller on the bus. :confused3 In fact, all of the Disney buses are pretty much the same - they do vary with some small differences - but we have been on (probably) every different kind of bus available and we have never had a problem!!! I pinkie swear!!! :thumbsup2

The problem wasn't getting the stroller on, the problem was the buses being overly crowded and having to stand because they are shared with POR. Then trying to get off a corwded bus because POFQ is the first stop.

We had two strollers and stayed at POFQ in February and had no problems whatsoever... In fact, even when we were the last ones on a bus, I rarely had to stand with my under 2 yo as someone always offered a seat. As for the crowds, the queue was always more full for the PO bus than the others, but I also noticed that the buses came around more often as well... so you have the same chance to be on a crowded bus as everywhere else, but you shouldn't wait any longer to do so... HTH!

Oh, I thought I would add that we had two maclaren volos which were extremely compact and I could throw it over my shoulder (carry strap) and carry my little one when needed, so even if we HAD to stand with both, we'd have been able to... KWIM? A fabulous WDW travel stroller...

Here is another DISer's take on the transportation

Transportation was by far the worst I have experienced. Busses were always crowded, having so many stops before even leaving the resort was a pain as well as sharing the bus with POFQ. The boat to DTD was nice although often had to wait for at least 3 before we could get on in the evening. On our last day we decided to get the bus downtown...waited almost an hour for a bus. They were supposed to be every 20 mins. I still say my favorite resort for transportation is POP...direct busses, one stop. My main beef with the busses was the lack of a que area for each bus. There appeared to be an opening for each destination however the drivers only loaded and unloaded at one spot...often we were waiting for 10 mins for a bus and then when it would pull up...people would come from nowhere and get on before us. It seemed unbelievable to me that there was no sectioned area to line up for the bus.

Am sure time of year has alot to do with it. Feb is usually not crowded for WDW

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Seems the difficulty is sporatic, so perhaps we will get lucky and have no troubles. I will be especially alert to the issue when leaving the parks. We will have a vehicle, so if it becomes a problem we will drive to the parks (except MK). We usually do an afternoon break so we will be coming back mid day to the resort and then we will head out in the early evening for dinner...so that will be at least 2 returns a day, and I can see how if there are issues that it could get to be annoying quickly.

Lilolvr, sorry I mangled your name in the earlier post.

We had no problems, just have it folded up when the bus arrives and jump on. The buses can get crowded at times, but like others pointed out this would happen at any resort bus, not just POFQ. Enjoy POFQ, we loved it!
