Does it happen? I admire those of you who bring your double joggers with you to the parks, but I would be crazy nervous about leaving such a huge financial investment unattended!! If there's no reason to worry, I would love to let you all reassure me!! :)

It's rare but it does happen.

We locked the wheels with a cable lock. You can't lock it to anything on property but putting the cable through the wheels would make it very unattractive to steal a large stroller.

I was thinking the same thing....we have a single jogging stroller but I would be so sad if someone took it. I looked into renting but I would buy the insurance and the cost just seems silly when I have a great jogger at home. A cheep stroller might be what we do but the bike look is an awesome idea.

For our first trip, I bought a cheapy $30 umbrella stroller, which was actually cheaper than the cost of renting for five days would have been, so I was comfortable knowing that if it walked, I wouldn't be out anything. Since that trip, we've "upgraded" in strollers a few times. Now I always take my Combi double, but it's still like a $200+ stroller, not a $500+ stroller. We've never had any problems with the stroller or anything on it going missing. I'm perfectly comfortable leaving it anywhere and walking away. Bring what you will be comfortable with.

We had our stroller stollen. Funny thing is we took our expensive Mountain Buggy Urban Double and a Mac Volo. The cheap volo was the one stollen. Both are rare prints and we found the person still in the park! Wasted a few hours though. Security told us its very common and most times they are abandoned at the end of the day.

Now we live in CA so we rent from a company but when we lived closer we would lock our wheels. Its a pain but we learned first hand it can happen. We considered buying a cheaper stroller for trips like this but agreed we aren't going to give up comfort and an amazing push for a cheaper stroller ;).

It definitely happens. More people go to Disney and don't have it happen though.

An alternative to locking the wheels together is to simply remove one.

Both of my strollers have that option. It can be cumbersome, but it's less likely that someone will steal a stroller that's missing a wheel.

This is actually a really good idea! I never would have thought of it. I have a britax b ready that we are taking to Disneyland and I'm a LITTLE apprehensive because its a $500+ stroller. But it's a comfy push (ill be 30 weeks preg and my daughter loves riding in it).

I have a buggy guard but it can be a little annoying. The back wheels pop on and off so easily (way easier that using the buggy guard!) so i will prob just remove one back tire!

Love the dis!

I don't think ours was "stolen" but it went missing from the stroller parking at rainforest cafe at downtown Disney. There was however another one the same as ours left with someone else's stuff in it. Was weird as we are from the uk and the one we had was quite unusual even over here in the colour we had. We took the other one and handed their stuff (princess makeover pic) and our details to guest relations but never heard anything else.

We had our thankfully cheap umbrella stroller stolen while in its a small world about two years ago. We had our daughters favorite blanket sitting in the stroller. Someone took the blanket and hung it over a fence in the parking area and took the stroller. I will say we were very thankful that they at least left the blanket. It would have made for a long trip without that blanket lol.

Counting all the days we've been at Disney we've probably left our stroller in different locations hundreds of times. I've never had a thing stolen from our stroller nor has it been stolen. It has been moved more than once (one time quite a ways away) but never anything removed. CM often condense strollers in Stroller Parking to take best advantage of the space. I like to be comfortable pushing it and my DD to have the comfort of her normal stroller so we take our Peg Perego with us each trip.

I also clearly make our stroller by tying something bright on the handle. It helps me spot it and also deters someone from taking it.

this is why we rented last time --- i can not have my expensive stroller out of my view without having anxiety ruin the time i'm having (not fun to go into a show or on a ride when you are worried about the stroller!).... so last trip we used a cheap combi double that i got on CL for $20 in the airport --- i didn't want to use it in the parks though b/c it's not a good ride - and when you are pushing around 3 kids (we use a ride on board for our older son) you want a good ride!

so we rented a city mini double + ride on board for the parks + got insurance.... peace of mind was worth it.

this trip we're brigning our own city mini double + ride on board since i was able to buy one used cheaper than renting -- so if it is stolen, i won't be THAT upset but it's highly unlikely someone would steal ours b/c it's older, faded, and there are about a billion other city mini doubles in the park on any given day (b/c they are the rental of choice it seems).

when we go to sesame place i bring a cheap stroller - b/c again, i don't want to worry about it getting stolen. It makes my day so much happier to not stress about it.

We just got back from our trip. We brought our BOB Revolution Duallie. We left it often with lots of stuff (diaper bag, blanket, jackets, soft sided cooler) in it. No theft. Popping off a wheel would certainly work, though!

I would use a lock instead of taking a wheel off. If the wheels are not meant to be repeatedly taken on and off, you can damage the assembly by doing that. I know there is one stroller that specifically says that the back right wheel is removable as an anti theft measure, but our strollers instructions specifically say not to remove the wheels after assembly. Check your instructions so you don't risk ruining your stroller.

We had our double Maclaren stroller stolen from Epcot last year. We parked it in front of The Land, along with our single Peg Perego stroller and when we came out, the Maclaren was gone. I always lock all four wheels of the stroller-- and I'm sure I did this time because we were parked on the hill in the front of The Land, so it would have rolled right back down the hill. When we unloaded the kids, I pushed the Peg Perego up behind the Maclaren because stroller parking was really tight at the time, so whoever took it had to work to get it out from behind the other stroller. We were only gone for 10 minutes or so-- just long enough to grab fast passes at Soarin and run to the bathroom.

I didn't realize it at the time, but my son (then almost 4) had left his security blanket on the seat and they took the blanket with the stroller. We always have the kids leave their blankets in the hotel or car, but he snuck out with it that day because it was freezing in the morning and he smuggled it out under his extra layers! I was ok with losing the stroller, but it still makes me want to cry thinking that someone would steal a little boy's blanket. It was very obviously a security blanket-- it has a giant well-loved and well-worn spot in the center. My son walked around for the rest of the trip asking if I thought the people who needed our stroller more than we did would be mailing us his blanket because he really missed it.

We also had all 3 kids' Mickey ears hanging from the stroller, so we lost those, too. When we went to MK the next day, we stopped by Guest Services to talk to them about renting a stroller and they gave each of the kids a new set of embroidered ears, which I thought was really nice. They also gave us a free rental for the day (just for the day that it was stolen-- not for the whole trip).

When I spoke with Security and filed our report, they told us that either they would find our stroller that night out in the parking lot or somewhere in the park because someone who didn't bring a stroller decided that they needed one so they "borrowed" ours or we wouldn't see it again because apparently there is a small issue with people coming into parks and taking more expensive strollers and then selling them on Craigslist. I said something to him about it being awfully expensive to buy a ticket or AP to come in and steal a stroller to make $75 or so on CL, but he said they had caught people who had taken as many as 15-20 strollers in one morning by taking a stroller and then walking it out to their car and then reentering the park and doing it again.

So- lesson learned-- next time I'll double check that security blankets are left in the hotel and bring anything from the stroller with me that I wouldn't want to lose! For the record, I still brought my own strollers when we went back a few months later and I will be bringing our strollers again this year -- I feel like we were definitely the exception- not the rule and I really don't want to let that one bad experience change my perception of Disney!

@golf: THAT IS HORRIBLE!!!

People are ridiculous these days. We will be renting a stroller, I'm definitely getting a lock. I have a tote bag cooler, that is pretty recognizable, which I will be locking to the handles as well. So if I see anyone with a this cooler and print, I will know they stole our stroller. I can't believe people have no qualms about ruining someone else s vacation.

Just remember if you lock your wheels for safety reasons CMs still need to be able to move it. So if your stroller can not be moved with the wheels locked a security CM may be called to clip the lock. Most CMs will know to lift the back of the stroller to readjust.

Also make your stroller very clearly your stroller. There are a thousand City Mini's at any time in Disney as they are the go to rental as well as the most normal stroller right now. The more it is clearly yours and not anyone else's the less likely you are to get an unknowing mom or dad accidentally "steal" your stroller. Happened to my sister in law. She grabbed the City Mini and was 100% sure it was hers until our nephew got in and said mommy this doesn't feel right. As soon as she looked down she realized there was no diaper bag or anything else so it definitely wasn't ours! She quickly returned the one she grabbed to the same stroller parking and saw our stroller about 4 down.
