Stroller Swaps...I read the Sticky

Are they just not happening at all anymore? What a great idea! Then again, I haven't been around here to see the potential problems and such. We're starting to plan for our first family WDW trip and I loved this idea.

I haven't heard of any stroller swaps for a while. I think there may be short term ones that pop up from time to time, but nothing long term. Logistically it's just too hard for swappers to follow through with delivering it from resort to resort. So I don't think they've been very successful. Plus they get damaged and since all the swaps on the DIS are free, once they're damaged they're done.

No one can collect money to do a stroller swap. So the stroller that gets used has to be donated. So that means it's either a cheap one that won't stand up to daily use. Or the stroller is a well used, old stroller that someone doesn't want to bother to bring home. I think there were real problems with keep the strollers in usable condition. Not everyone was careful with something they had no stake in. Some people didn't clean the stroller after they used them. Or they misused the strollers. And then there was the problem with people not following thru with making sure that the stroller got to the next swapper. I think that there might be some organized stroller swaps on facebook or other disney forums. I just don't think you will find any long term active swaps here.
