Just because strollers bug you doesn't mean that's the reason for the price increase.

I simply can't understand why other people are upset by other people using strollers for older children. I have honestly never noticed, because I'm too busy having fun to nitpick everyone's parenting.

I AM annoyed by the price increase because it's yet another way to get more money out of guests by picking things they know people will pay for. I understand if they want to increase prices, but it's the percentage of increase that really ticks me off, even if they haven't raised them in 3 years.

Honestly, the double strollers are extremely annoying when there's so many you can't walk anywhere without getting clipped in the ankles. They make the park unbearable. I can completely understand the use of strollers for those who are young enough and those with disabilities. But when you're taking up valuable walking area with a double stroller filled with eight-year-olds and bags, its frustrating to those of us who want to enjoy our time in the parks instead of standing behind a row of strollers.

Oh c'mon. Dumb question. But really, the excessive use of the double strollers is extremely frustrating.

Lines are annoying. Rude guests are annoying. Rain showers are annoying. High prices are annoying. And one would expect to encounter all of them in the park. But you're there, so it's not unbearable, right?

Yes, it is unbearable. I can understand lines, rude guests, rain showers. Eight year olds in strollers, not so much. If it gets too annoying, yes, we hop to another park.

I think it is also important to remember that all children are different. Just because your 4, 5 or 10 year old walked all day long and was fine, does not mean another child can and it has nothing to do with being lazy. Even slight things like allergies and allergy medication or nothing at all could affect a child's stamina. Some kids might just have more energy than others. It is nobody's business if people put their older kids in the strollers. If Disney doesn't say anything, then nobody else should either.

Just have fun and don't worry about what other people do unless it is hurtful to others.

And yes, the price increase stinks.

You are right about that. I almost got hit by one in November. I had to put my hand out in the woman's face who was talking to other people instead of paying attention and say "stop!" My son was on the other side of me so she didn't almost get him, thank goodness. She was going to plow straight into me. It is just all about being courteous to others no matter what. Stroller, walking, cigarettes, etc.

You cant enjoy your time in the parks because you stood behind strollers for what 2 minutes? Thats petty, sorry, then disney or any place that is mainly geared toward family enjoyment isnt the place you should go.

Again it all comes back to the age thing, so a double strollers with two 3 year olds in it thats ok, but god forbid an older kids gets to enjoy his vacation, in the same stroller, thats the same size, um ok, yep that makes perfect sense.

But older kids don't need strollers unless they physically can't. If they need to sit, sit on a bench. I'm talking about the EXCESSIVE use of strollers. And I have been to the parks when I can't get anywhere because of a stroller, so no, its not petty. Going to the parks is supposed to be enjoyable, and yes, the eight year old would probably have just as good of a time walking than seeing everything from a foot off the ground in a stroller. Have you tried to take your older kids to the park WITHOUT a stroller to see if they could walk? They walk in school, don't they? They play sports, don't they? What makes you think they can't walk in a park for half hour increments between rides and shows?

That is too bad that people are annoyed with the presence of strollers. It is a family park, and we do appreciate strollers. As for people doing more walking in the past, well there were less parks in the past too. My daughters are generally fine walking through two parks, but by that third day we all need to take more breaks. It is just easier to get a stroller and pace ourselves than have blistered and bloody feet so some people can have more room to walk.

I can tell you the main time my oldest is in his stroller (we actually use the sit n stand now to accomodate both him and his little brother). When we are going from one land to the other or from one end of the park to another. When we are walking around each area, we park the stroller and then just walk around where we need to go. But if I know he will have a hard time keeping up, we let him sit on the back bench. Same for my youngest. We try to let him walk, but sometimes he just can't. But he isn't the issue on this discussion I guess because he will be 2 in July. Also, when it is really really crowded, like leaving after Wishes, my oldest also sits on the little bench and rides on the stroller. That way I know where both of them are in that huge crowd. Now my son does have special needs (Down syndrome), so I don't know if that is why he needs to rest a little more or not. He is pretty energetic at home. But Disney is completely different. But I still don't see a problem with the typical older kids being in there if they need to be either.

And I have also had plenty of people walking step right in front of our stroller too where I had to come to a full quick stop, so there are rude people everywhere.

My guess is that most of the people really bothered by double strollers are the ones who want to inch into spaces and cut in front/around you while you are waiting for your turn to proceed in the crowd of people. Really, there is a huge crowd, I happen to have a double stroller in front of me - but if you are in back of me, it shouldn't bug you because if everyone is considerate of the 'line' that is moving in the direction you want to go - you would remain behind me. And, if you happen to be in front of me, same thing, you wouldn't even notice my stroller because you're waiting for your turn in front of you.

99% of the 'collisions/accidents' I see with strollers are because of people trying to bust in front of the person with the stroller OR bust in front of the people in front of the stroller causing them to take a step backward and right into a stroller- I know that's the only time I get aggresive, If you are behind me, stay behind and we'll all be okay and get there as soon as the crowd clears.

Unless they physically cant, thats it unless they for whatever reason cant. And as a parent YOU and YOU alone know when they hit that wall.

Have a child, have someone say "I know whats best for them you dont" and you, I guarentee will take a look at things differently.

And yes my child walks, plays sports and gasp even runs but sorry that not Disney by a long shot. Its different in so many ways, heat alone is big, plus so much more.
Also if you would have read my earlier post you would have seen that last trip my son didnt use one for his entire trip, but at AK he hit that wall. Dont say , should have left, sit on a bench whatever why because that simply wasnt what we wanted to do, dont like it sorry. Our best plan was get a stroller let him ride, take a break, drink a water while we got from a to b and back again.

I would never think to tell you, that you have planned your vacation wrong or while you were there you did something wrong, so why tell me? Because I rented a stroller? fine so be it, Im a big girl I can take it. But this thread is about the hugh increase in the stroller rental price, which is crazy. and like someone said earlier, if disney didnt want as many strollers in a park the would put them in storage somewhere.

I still think its family's that need a stroller everyday of there trip that will suffer, bringing one can be a pain for some and the ease of renting it there was a blessing. Lost kids, whiney kids, kids lagging behind, sure hope they dont get in the way of your enjoyment.

No I don't. I can't have them. But I have taken plenty of kids there, and none of them needed a stroller at any point in our vacation.

I have to ask the obvious. If you don't have kids, what exactly are you doing in the Disney for Families section of the board? You seem to really like to hang out in places that are unbearable.
