Stroller rental - 5 & 7 year olds?

Leaving Saturday for a week trip in Disney. I suggested to DH we rent a double stroller to cover more territory when the kids get tired, but he's worried it will be difficult to push with non-toddler kids. My 7 year old DD complains when she walks a lot, and I know it will be hot.

I can't seem to search these forums - I know this has probably been discussed.

I'd appreciate any input!

The rentals are EXTREMELY easy to push. You will definitely not have a problem pushing it. We rented for our 4 and 6 yr olds this past summer and I literally could push the stroller with one finger. If you feel they will need it, go ahead and rent one.

yes... they are very easy to push.. that is what so neat about them.. they are so much better than your regular stroller! My little girl told us this year.. she wants to rent again b/c she likes theirs better.. she is almost 5!

I'd try taking it easy without the stroller and rent if you need to. The are pretty easy to push, even with a bigger child in them. Your daughter may surprise you.

My daughter get leg pain badly if she walks around too much and will be up all night crying about her legs. She is 5 (almost 6 now) and when we went this past January we had to rent one as she is too big now for her old one. She is very tall and people think she is 7 or 8. She only weighs 50 lbs though but anyway, the strollers that we rented were excellent. No problem pushing at all. They are different in MGM, those are more like joggers almost, the others are a hard plastic but both were easy to push. Not much room for storage though underneath so bring a backpack.

Thanks for all the replies. We don't own a stroller and haven't for years since my youngest is now 5. Both quit riding in a stroller really young. That said, last Halloween we got a short way from home Trick or Treating and the kids were complaining and DONE for the night. I called DH to pick us up as they sat in a neighbor's lawn. My DD, 7, has less stamina than my 5 year old.

I guess we'll see how it goes. I don't think either will WANT to ride in a stroller, but they will be quick to want to return to the hotel!

We got back last week and used a double stroller for our our three kids. The 4yo always rode (due to her short legs and me being incapable of walking slow). The 7yo and 9yo took turns. Towards the end of the day, I would end up with all three (7 and 9 in the seats, 4 in the leg area between their legs). It was easy for me to push. The kids are pretty skinny so it was only like pushing 140 pounds or so (plus backpack).

This was at MK and Epcot and AK. MGM has the jog type stroller and it was still easy to push them around.

I also vote for the wait & see. My kids did better than I thought they would. But I did grab some "dumped" one after the fireworks at MK & Epcot. It was easier to get them through the crowds.

I know some people will say wait and see, but we always rent a double stroller for our 2 kids. We got back from our trip couple of weeks ago and with the heat and long walks, they probably wouldn't have lasted for more than 2 to 3 hours without a stroller. I would definitely rent.

We got a double (because it was included free) at MNSSHP last week for my 7 & 10 year olds who weigh 58 & 85 pounds and it was easy to push with them both in it (for just a short time). They only were in it for a brief time, but they were able to squeeze in it together for watching the fireworks. I don't think you'll have any trouble with your kids' ages.

One more thing. If you pay up front for multiple days the cost is cheaper per day. You get a bunch of tickets stapled together and hand them in each day to get a stroller. I think it saved us a few bucks a day.
