Stroller Recommendations

Hi!

We are bringing our daughter to Disney World for the first time to celebrate her 3rd birthday! She is tall for her age - almost 40 inches - and is around 33 lbs. We typically don’t use a stroller at home but feel like we should get one for the trip for the airport and the amount of walking at the parks. I wanted to ask you all for your recommendations on a comfortable portable stroller. I was looking at the Summer 3Dmini Convenience Stroller and the Graco NibleLite Stroller but I really have no clue! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I'm a few years removed from toddlers, but I'm going to tell you to go lower end. She's a big girl. Get the $20 no-name umbrella stroller from Target. It's easy to fold up and store. In some of the parks, you can even fold it up and hang it in the stroller parking areas. It's pretty easy to throw a mini backpack/diaper bag over the ears of the handles. No one cries when it gets soaked with melted dole whip and smeared with cookie residue - just hose it off.

They still make the inexpensive Minnie Mouse umbrella strollers too - those are closer to $30. My daughter loved hers when she was 2 or 3.

Unless you have a layover, I'd skip buying one and just rent a stroller while down there. We do have the Summer 3D, but ended up using our more durable daily driver (it has rubber tires).

If you still have one kicking around at home, I'd just bring that one.

We have two big strollers at home but we like the convenience of renting them in Orlando and have it delivered to the hotel / resort. We take a $15 umbrella stroller to the airport - easy to store and travel with. If it breaks, it's only $15. We bought it at Target. Big rental for the parks is nice because of storage and sleeping.

We have a cheap Target Mickey Mouse stroller and it is such a pain to push. I much prefer joggers for the ability to push one handed. I second the idea of Bob stroller...either rented or a cheap used one off FB marketplace (we got one for $70).

I would find a used stroller online before you go - cheaper than renting, and then you have it with you for the airport.

I personally think the sweet spot for that age is the "nicer" umbrella strollers - some storage, sunshade, more comfortable, easier to push and steer than the cheapest, but lighter and easier to fold and maneuver than the full featured or jogger types. We had a Chicco C6 (not sure if they make them anymore, but we often saw orange ones like ours at the parks). But I would start scouring your local FB marketplace or craigslist, and then check out reviews online for anything that looks promising.

I think you will appreciate having the stroller in the airport for containment and speed, so I would advise against renting. I would look for something lightweight, easy to fold, that can recline for naps and with awesome cup holders to buy used. We loved our Joovy Ultralight Caboose which was a sit and stand (we have two kids 2.5 yrs apart) but that doesn't help you. Maybe you can find a Maclaren on FB Marketplace. The Atom model looks pretty sweet.
