Stroller recommendation

We'll be bringing our DS for his first birthday in November. I don't want to bring his big, heavy stroller with us. Any recommendations for brands/types to look for? I definitely want it to recline, have a cover and a basket. Being lightweight and folding easily for the bus is also a must!

I just picked up a lightwight Graco. It reclines, has a sun roof, big basket, you can fold it with one hand and it is very light to carry. Also has a removable tray on the handle and one in front with cup holders on each. It was originally $54 but it was on sale for $40. I was going to get an umbrella type but this has better support and is more cushioned.

We have done "big" stollers before, with the canopy, cushions, etc. Well, we don't anymore. We are a umbrella stoller family now! They are so much easier to get around with. They are lighter, easier to fold/unfold. Our toddlers could easily get in and out of them. All we had to do was unsnap them. They had baskets underneath that weren't much smaller than the ones on our larger stollers. We bought little "clip-on" umbrellas to put on them and they worked great for keeping the sun out. Just my thoughts...

You can get very durable umbrella strollers at very reasonable cost. Defineately get on with a basket...and canopy. We bought a new one fiquring it would cost less and be more convenient than renting. We especially liked having it at the resort and airport.

I just purchased a Combi Sport Utility stroller from OneStepAhead.com I love it!! Folds up great, weighs 10 lbs, reclines and has a basket. I believe it was 59.95 and worth every penny. Linda

I love the STROLLER threads because I went thru HECK trying to figure out the stroller/Disney dilemna for our April 2001 trip.

Our ds was 15 months old in April 2001. Although I loved his GIANT ROCK n' ROLLER STROLLER for home, it would NEVER fit into a rental car and it's heavy! We had 8 strollers already, but nothing was GOOD ENOUGH for our Disney trip, so the hunt was on. I looked everywhere and found our perfect stroller. It cost less than renting a Disney stroller!

Graco Kite Lite Stroller. It reclines, has a BIG basket, canopy and the BEST thing it has is THREE cup holders! The baby's tray is large with one cup holder and behind the canopy where we push the stroller has a tray for us with TWO cup holders and enough tray space for another cup or snacks etc.,. It weights less than 14 pounds and folds small. Cost was $45.00 USF at Toys R Us.

This thread cracked me UP! I, too, have 3-4 strollers already, and decided NOTHING was good enough for the Disney Trip! (will be selling existing strollers at consignment) -- I, too, had gone on "the hunt" everywhere, and I, too, narrowed my field to one: The Kite Lite by Graco -- toooooo funny! I love this one, and they have it at Babies R' Us for $39.99!

I too am a stroller freak!!! Our DS is 2 and I went on the hunt a few weeks ago. I took DS with me to test the easiness of getting him in and out, as well as his ability to lay down and take a nap. I liked the kite lite but it did not recline all the way and since DS likes to lay on his belly, this was not a good option for us. I went with the Century Capris, (there is also one by Graco, same model, different color pattern) for $49.99 at Baby's R Us. It has both adult and baby cup holders, removeable tray, and a large basket and canopy. So gald to know I'm not the only one out there!

The Graco Lite Kite stroller is the Best! My dd was 18 months when we took her to WDW. This stroller definately gets more use than my bulky Peg Perego.

Here's another vote for the Graco Lite Kite. Another good thing about it is how high the handle bar is.

I made the mistake of buying an umbrella type stroller which had a canopy, basket and folded flat is VERY light...with Elmo all over it for $25. Well, once I got it home and used it, I realized it was very short even for me and I'm only 5'3!

What about the kite lite stroller for an infant.... 8 weeks old when we go to disney???
Like the cup holders etc..... will plan to use the pillow supporter for head but lay down flat enough??? ----

Go to www.babynavigator.com There they give detailed descriptions and ratings on strollers and other baby gear....The ratings are done by parents like you and me...not retailers pushing THEIR own products!!!

We also have a few strollers at home (mostly heavy Emmajungas), and took our MacLaren umbrella stroller last time (when I took my then 4 yr old.) It had survived Paris's cobblestones, but died in Disney. I started asking moms around WDW about their strollers, and the most positive response I got were from PegPerego Pliko owners. So when we got home, I bought one (not cheap, but I got it on sale with and with a cyber-coupon.) I love it! And it fully reclines, is well padden, has great shocks, and has both a rain and bug screen. Also, it has footrails on the back so that my preschooler can ride along. Since we'll have two stroller age kids this trip (3.25yrs and 20 mos) as well as the then 5 yr. old, we're buying another Pliko. There are various models which weigh between 11 - 17 lbs, and they fold down nicely (although it takes a couple times practice to get the hang of it.) Also, the handles extend, so that its comfortable for both DH (6') and me (5'6").

Bought an Umbrella stroller before our first trip with son @ 1 yr old in 1997 and have used it every Disney trip since. We paid $15.00 for it and have used it more that our $119.00 stroller. The umbrella stoller has just become more practical. Great for when we fly too. Only weighs a few pounds and doesn't take up another seat or the isle on the buses in Disney--like so many people do....
