pirate: pirate: pirate: Hello. I've been to Disney upwards of 30 times but in another month, will be traveling there with my four month old for the first time. My son, who is three, didnt make his first trip until he was 18 months so this wasnt an issue.
What type of stroller is best with an infant this young? I dont want to lug the carseat into the park every day so the stroller that holds the carseat is out of the question.
I did buy a lightweight stroller with an infant headrest in it but my only concern is that she will be facing outward and I wont be able to constantly see her. Should I just let go of that concern and stick with what I have?
Any thoughts?

We took DD last year when she was 3 mo. We took our full size Graco, bought a sunshade extension for it from Babies R'Us. This worked really well for us because it was sturdy enough to hang our big diaper bag on and we also had the large basket underneath.

I am not sure when you are going, but if it won't be too hot, a baby sling would work great so baby is not in the stroller all the time. It would be great for waiting in lines, on rides and even just holding your baby. Regarding the stroller, I think I would feel better with the full size stroller for a tiny tot -- just seems more sturdy and protective (but I wouldn't take the infant carrier either). Maybe your son could use the lightweight stroller?

i second the sling suggestion--there is so much in and out of the stroller in wdw, you might get lots of use out of a sling or other kind of carrier. my 13 month old was a little too big to carry all the time, but there were many times--esp when he was getting sleepy--that i put him in the sling and he slept great and i was still able to do things(the TTA People Mover is a great place to sit and relax). check out thebabywearer.com or email me for more info anytime!! have a great trip!! but i do suggest you find a carrier and practice asap as your trip is coming up soon.
as far as strollers-- something with excellent recline. once in wdw i saw a smaller baby in a carriage with a bag near her face that had blown in the stroller--that's the downside of not having baby face you, the poor parents had not seen it happen. the car seat with a snap-n-go might not be such a bad idea--plus the baskets are big and accessible in them!!

Yes definitely check out thebabywearer.com!!!! You can get a sling or a mei tei..i use both and my dd loves them!
Also we just got a new single stroller for times when we need one(i'm usually wearing the baby though ;) )we got a Chicco CT 0.5 ..i just posted about this on another thread.. its awesome..really light, folds very compact, reclines ,has a basket, came with a rain cover and was nice and wide..i put my 3 and 4 yo dd's in there and they fit fine..and it was only $89 I went out to buy a new Maclaren(we also have a Mac double) and actually liked this better..has bigger wheels and the seat was wider..made it look more comfy.

We have traveled twice to Disney with an infant...older dd was 3 months and younger dd was 6 months last July (we also have two older boys, so that is why the girls have traveled when they are so young). We used the same stroller both trips, and for us it was ideal. It is an older Combi stroller we bought 10 years ago for first baby. Several key feautures for us:

1) Stroller has a full recline...completely flat. Leg rest area elevated, so the area was roomy for an infant and allowed baby to get comfortable.

2) Stroller handle moves from front to back...alowing you to face baby or to have baby facing outward. This was such a wonderful feature and I wish more strollers had this! It not only allows you to vary the viewing for baby, but it also gives you so much more flexibility for sun protection because the sunshade also moves from front to back and you can use the angle of the sun to your best advantage.

3) Stroller was light (about 15 lbs) and folded easily to a standing position (I hate, hate, hate how the Gracco we have folds up on the tray!). We were able to navigate airport security and Disney trabsportation easily.

DD will be 20 months for our next trip in September, and she is too big for that stroller. It has taken me literally months to figure out what stroller to buy for that trip LOL Poor dh just shakes his head (with 4 kids we have owned our fair share of strollers :-). I will sell the old Combi at our next yard sale, but I will be sad to see it go - like a piece of my kid's babyhood.

I have already rambled quite a bit, but I just wanted to add that we did use the stroller fan last trip for infant dd and I highly recommend it. With older dd we used an infant carrier and she was happy to travel in it at spells. However, younger dd never liked being snuggled in the carrier and in the July heat of Disney there was no way she was having any of it.

I have seen people using the full travel system with stroller and car seat, but I would not recommend that...so hard to travel with unless you are exclusively driving. Do you take the carrier into shows, restaurants, etc and where do you put it then and what if you leave it outside and it rains? Plus, I would be worried about the heat with an infant in a car seat in warmer months.
