Stroller question

How is the sit and stand harder to maneuver? (I've never used one). We will leave it folded until we get to the park in the morning. And grandpa is big and strong!!;)

Sit and stands IMO are horrible to maneuver, it's awkward and doesn't move well. It's as bad as a graco, I've had both and sold both because I hated them so much, Phil and ted's, bobs, city strollers are way easier, it has to do with the tire rotation. I'd never ever use a sit and stand again, we are going to rent a city once we get there.

LOL! Speaking AS a grandparent--if both sets of grandparents are there, you almost HAVE to have two strollers, so they can each have one of the smaller kids! :goodvibes:goodvibes Who are you getting your rental from?
I'm still researching where to rent from but I borrowed my friends city mini double and it was super light so I think we are just going to go with that...we just won't have one for the airport, I'm afraid of mine getting damaged by the airline

Okay, now you guys are making me second guess myself! The stroller is really only needed for my gs (he turns one while we are there!) My gd is almost 6, and I figured the "stand" part would be perfect for her, for when she just needs a break from walking or we're in a hurry.

When we went when ours were little, the 2 y.o. went in an umbrella stroller, and the 5 and 6 y.o. boys walked--but we went in early spring and it wasn't crowded at all.

So can someone detail what the problems are with the sit and stand--once it's rolling?

There are several brands of sit and stands. The one we're renting is the Joovy Caboose--it is not long at all.

Trust me. Just rent a City Mini and your GD can hitch a ride in the second seat when she gets tired.

We've rented from Kingdom Strollers and Orlando Stroller Rentals. Both are great businesses with excellent customer service, and both deliver to and pick up from Bell Services at the Disney resorts, so you don't have to be anywhere at a specific time for either dropoff or pickup. I think their pricing is within $5 of each other, too.

I've had both the joovy and the baby trend and I agree they are more for mall use, not lots of walking. If you really want her to have a place get the roller board that goes behind? Although, I've never used it so I don't know how easy it is....my 2nd daughter is having her birthday while we are there too. I think it won't really matter in the end what you choose, the memories are what counts, we are just happy my husband is not deployed for her birthday and can be with us. (Big picture I guess)

So, the InStep Safari Double jogging stroller was what I was going to buy, just because of the decent price tag ($170) at walmart, since my kids won't need a stroller in everyday life. Anybody have any experience with these? How well they fold up on buses, easy to maneuver, etc?

My kids were just turned 5 and 6 1/2 when we went for the first time. We were there in August and neither wanted or needed a stroller.

If you really just want a place for her to stand sometimes, a roller board (not sure of brands in the US) would work just fine. You will find it a little awkward with a child that size probably, but doable. I used one with my two when I just wanted a single stroller.

I pushed a sit n stand once. Never again. I'd prefer a wagon to that.

I have this stroller for jogging and I LOVE it…for jogging or outside use. BUT It's BIG..a BEAST of a stroller..it will not fit through doors well and it's super heavy. Once you get it outside it's awesome though…but I use it for trails, outdoor parks, sporting events that aren't crowded. It's a pain to fold up and is just really awkward for that purpose.

Ok, thanks. I'll probably just be better off renting in the parks then. Then we won't have to worry about it on the buses or at the campground. I can't see spending a lot of $$ on a new stroller since my boys are so big now (especially since we donated all of our old strollers). Thanks :-)

If you want to buy look on Craigslist. I bought a Maclaren Double for $100, which would be comparable to what you'd spend on a rental. After the trip you could try to sell it and get your money back too. We're holding on to ours since our kids are a lot younger we're still open to having more children.

I've never taken a sit and stand to Disney but I've done it at the Zoo and it was horrible. The weight was all right in front and if you have to push it up a hill it's pure torture. My Maclaren side by side worked great for Disney. It handles a lot better and folds up a lot smaller. Also it's not that much wider then a single stroller the only time I felt it was tight was fitting it into a bathroom stall and walking through shops. However if you were going to be shopping for awhile there is always the option of parking it. For us two strollers would have been difficult getting on and off the buses. I can't imagine carrying two strollers on or off by myself and one person needed to help our son and carry bags/cooler on and off the bus. Our daughter was strapped to somebody's back but if she had been walking that would have made it even more difficult.
