With the newest price increase on stroller rental at Disney, I am in the need of some imput on what a good stroller would be for a 5 year old. There is no way he would walk that much, and we can't carry him allday.....
We are flying so something that would be easy at the airport, and then be able to use it at the parks.
Thanks

I have a MAC Triumph also and love it.

the resorts and parks, use to sell an umbella (Chicco I believe). They were around $40 but they did not have a canopy for shade. I am not sure if they still do but it worth finding out.

I've only found 3 models that hold my 5 y/o. Maclarens hold up to 55 # as does the Chicco's and Joovy. You can get the Mac (volo) on eBay for about $75. Check them out at Target first (~$99) as they don't recline. The advantage to the Mac Volo is that it only weighs 8.6# and folds up easily and has a carry strap.

I would go with the Mac. Although the Combi is light weight and compact when folded, it's very flimsy. I put my 3 year old in one just yesterday (we need to get a 2nd stroller ourselves and I wanted to compare the the Mac & Combi) and it didn't push very well and that was with a 33 lb kid across a linoleum floor! I'm going with the Mac Triumph. Check out www.albeebaby.com they have the best selection of strollers on the web. Bought my last stroller there and it was much cheaper than at the Babies R' Us store plus if the order is over $100 shipping is free.

We use a maclaren volo. 5 year old doesn't need recline feature.

sure 5 yo could walk most of the day, but I just don't feel like walking at a snail's pace all day through the parks. So we use stroller for our almost 5 year old.

We are looking into getting a Mac Volo for our 7 year old 38lb son. Very low muscle town, and don't want to spend that much $$ on a rental. Anyone find a great deal on the VOLO? Please help!

I am going for the volo too. I just cannot justify spending $200-$300 on a stroller for a 5 yo. We won't get that much use out of it at home. The way I see it, the price of the volo is about the same as renting at the new rates for a week. This way, at least we come home with a stroller. If we rented, we would come home with nothing but an empty wallet.

I picked up a used one on eBay for $35 + $20 shipping. I also put my name in the local consignment shops & told them if a Mac, Joovy, or Chiccos brand came in the door to call me.

Just chiming in to disagree with the poster who said the Combi's are flimsy. I just got an Urban, and it holds my 32-pound 2 year old, and 45-pound 4 year old with no problem (not at the same time, of course). It pushes and turns easily and feels sturdy, even indoors on plush carpet.. There's plenty of room for the 4 year old, too - he said he was "totally comfortable" ;) .

$68 on walmart.com. Can't beat that if you only want it for Disney.

My son will be 5 in May, and is about 50pounds. Which one of these strollers has the higher weight limits. I really would like to get something that he wouldn't outgrow in a couple of months.

I totally agree! My dd(6) and son have rode in it and it pushes fine!

I had good luck with www.babye-store.com when I bought my 2007 Volo from them for $75 including shipping. I was reluctant to buy from a site I had never heard of but it came quickly. The 2007 version comes with a rain cover.
