I'm thinking yes yes yes but I don't know. We are going from dec 12 - 20.

I have an umbrella stoller I might use for the smaller parks but I was thinking of renting an stoller like last time for the bigger parks. MK and epcot.

If I do rent, should I rent a single or double. I also have a 8 year old.

Last time I rented a double but its so expensive 27 a day with the discount.

What to do??

Not for nothing, but that's a lot of kid (8yo and 5yo) to push around!

We just did a sit and stand stroller for a 2yo and a 5yo and I thought that got heavy! Though most of the place is nearly flat, the monorail ramps can be a workout. Not sure your wee ones could fit or if they might tip the weight capacity.

Are there such things as half day rental? Maybe an afternoon rentla would just the thing. There should be some available as people retreat to hotels in the afternoon.

my daughters will be almost 6 and they will be ina stroller. our umbrella strollers are too small so were gonna have to rent. you cant expect them to keep up like us adults..if you want your day to go smoother,. rent. leaving the parks last time were sooo much smoother with them i that stroller. we were able to whiz by everyone quickly.i read here somewhere that mcclaren has strollers for kids up to 55 pds. they are too pricey for me as id need two but good luck:thumbsup2

You need to do whats best for your kids. My 5 yr old walked it.BUT we started a walking regimen 6 months before our trip, let her know walking was an expectation, and only have one child do deal with so we could take little breaks if needed. I will tell you that she put me and DH to SHAME. SHe outpaced and outlasted us all day( and in the Sept heat and humidity too).

I would love to buy/rent a double stroller for DD6 & DD19mos., but DH says it is a waste to pay money for a stroller that we would only be using for such a short amount of time especially since we have a perfectly good single stroller for DD19mos. I disagree but don't think that I will be able to sway him. This will be our first trip & DD6 tends to be a little on the lazy and then pouty side when she gets tired. Maybe we can find a good used one in the local bargain paper.

We rented a stroller for DD6 when we were there a week ago. Although expensive, I was very glad we did. It was good for a couple reasons.

It was easier to keep track of her especially when crowds were thick.

It was a holder for our extra stuff that we carried. I carried a Baggalinni with our camera's and wallet in it and left snacks and and drinks and whatever other stuff we had with the stroller when we went on rides. Made a much lighter bag for me to carry on me.

She would have been pretty good about walking, but there was a couple of times that she took catnaps between stops and it was good for her. She hasnt knapped since 2yrs, but with all the activity at WDW it gave her some zone out time while we walked.

I dont know what to tell you about your 8yr old. I think this was the last time she will really fit. She is a tall 6 yr old 48+ inches, but is thin. Her head actually pushed up on the canopy of the stroller and her legs were rather scrunched.

Another thing to consider is maybe buy one at home that is a little larger, then when you get home sell it on craigs list. You will probably not get your whole amount back but you will probably not loose as much as what you pay daily at the parks. We didnt do this because we flew and didnt want to hassle with it at the airport and have to wiat for it on a conecting flight.

Overall, I would do it again in a heartbeat if she would still fit into it. We were on the go a lot. Its not that she couldnt do it, but we wanted her to enjoy her time without pushing her, and this gave her a chance to rest inbetween attractions.

We went in Oct of 08 with our 12 year old daughter (11 at the time) and our 5 year old grandson. I purchased a Graco Brown stroller and it was great. I wanted to be able to fold it and it had a carry handle and typical umbrella handles and a foot rest strap. He fell asleep quite a few times in it and it was comfortable. It had a small basket underneath and was able to be reclined with a strap in the back.

Worth the money and I still have it for future trips:thumbsup2. Nice new germ free. The Disney ones are hard plastic and not as comfortable and you could buy one for the rental price. Also you can use the stroller from the bus to get back to your room. Great to carry stuff when the child is walking.:woohoo:

You can always sell it when you return home.

for our five almost six year old for our trip last week. It was a blessing. We tried her walking for awhile but it was a big drag on us. We had used an umbrella stroller on previous trips but she has outgrown hers. I looked at one of the stroller rental places that people recommend. It appeared that they rented by range of dates. We were at the lower end of the date range and the amount was equal to what we would have paid for every day with the prepay discount. (BTW, I didn't realize the pre-pay discount was for any period of payment over one day. You could pay for two days early on and decide if you needed it for each day.) We had a crowded bus nights going back to the resort and i was fine not having to carry a folded up stroller with me.

Our last trip we planned to not rent a stroller for DS 6. However on our 2nd day his arthritic knee acted up. (happens occasionally Dr. says it has nothing to do with the amount of activity) I went to Wal Mart bought a Jeep stroller for $55. It worked great. When we got home I put a sign on stroller and sold it for $30. If you have transportation to a store to buy a stroller, it is another option to go without with the option of buying one if necessary. Our total net cost was $25 for 6 days with a stroller.

$30

I have some thinking to do. Thankfully we are not going until Dec. We are flying and I'm not sure if he is too big for our unbrella stroller. (its similar to the ones they sell at Disney) He probably is though. I'm going to look into maybe buying one before I leave and not rent or maybe just rent when we go to epcot.

Still not sure what I'm going to do.

Thanks for all your help.:goodvibes

I have a 5 and 7 year old. We have an awesome Mountain Buggy for at home and with both kids in it (DS 55 pounds and DD 40 pounds) it does get tiring to push for long periods. However, I'll still take it to the zoo and they are in and out of it all the time and that breaks up the heavy pushing. I am telling you this b/c the Mountain Buggy is likely the best double stroller on the market and very easy to push (it's a jogging stroller with double turning wheels on the front) and I'm surely not taking it with us. Too much of a hassel to load on busses and the like. Also, we are driving and folded it still takes up too much space.

That being said, I do want a single stroller for my younger child. I am going to practice pack the car and see if our very old metro lite will fit in. If it does I'm bringing that and just leaving it there/will offer it up to anyone who wants it for free. If not, I may rent from Orlando Stroller Rental or pick up a used folding umbrella stroller (though I understand I'd have to get a good model to tote a 5 year old around in).

So I know I'm not answering your question, but hopefully I'm providing you with some options to consider.

Would you mind letting me know details of your walking program. I just started mine (we're going in Dec) and would like to get my 7 year old in shape. I am bringing or renting a stroller for DD5 b/c trust me, she needs it (guaranteed to nap and a good whiner as well). My 7 year can jog 2 miles, but I don't think that will be good enough. I myself just started walking this week and am trying to walk 2.5 miles each day. Would like to increase to 4 or 5 miles at least twice a week a time permits. Do you think that would be sufficient? I'm only about 10 pounds overweight and in OK shape otherwise, but having just walked three days so far and can occasionally feel it in my legs.

Thanks for any tips! I bet you didn't know you'd ever be a personal trainer on this board!

Wow I feel guilty my DD 3 walked the whole trip, 11 days of walking...if her hips blow out later in life its on me I guess
