Stroller for big kid - age 10

This may seem over indulgent, but I need a stroller for my granddaughter age 10 about , 60 lbs.

Orlando strollers is all rented out of the 'special needs' stroller I thought about renting.

GD is not disabled, but I need something, as I know she will be unable to walk all that much, every single day and night.

Does anyone know whether the WDW stroller would be suitable for her size/wt?

My sister used the WDW stroller for her DD when she was that age and weight. She said it was just so much easier, they could go so much faster than waiting on DD to keep up, or listening to her whine about being hot and tired. The stroller made it much more enjoyable for everyone.

Many people on here are going to disagree, though.

There was nothing wrong with my niece, in fact she's very athletic and played soccer. But she could not have kept up the pace of the rest of the group all that time (it wasn't just their family) without the stroller.

What about using a wheelchair?

You'll be surprised how much a 10 year old can endure.

If you have some time before you leave, you can have your granddaughter increase her stamina for walking. Increase time and distance everyday.

On second thought.... why would a kid at that age need a stroller? My son was running circles around me by the time he was 5. I realize that kids are different but a 10 year old should be able to keep up. Can't they?

I don't really care if you use one for any age. It's not my business. I just don't get it.

I don't know of any other than the Disney rental strollers. I don't know when you are going but if you still have time, perhaps take daily walks to build up stamina. Just be sure to take breaks from time to time and she should be fine without one. I just took my 4 year old to DL in September for our first trip without a stroller. We went from morning until late in the evening.

If you have a chance, take a midday break and return to the hotel for a nap or swim.

The baby jogger city classic stroller holds up to 75 lbs and it very easy to steer with a larger child in it. I used it with my 7yr old and she was about 58lbs at the time.

My 10 year old would have NEVER been pushed around in a stroller. Unless there is some disability, I can't imagine a 10 YO wanting to be in a stroller.

Unless she's disabled in some way, I'm sure she'll be able to manage. I can't even imagine a 10 year old wanting to be pushed around in a stroller. Wouldn't she be completely mortified?

And listen, if this middle aged fat lady with foot, ankle and back problems can manage at WDW in the middle of summer, I'm sure a 10 year old can do it.

Don't underestimate the kid.

I would just rent the ones there on the days she need it. She's probably taller, and they are built for bigger kids. If she doesn't need it, no biggie, and you don't need to worry about having it when you don't need it and carting it back to the hotel.

I am not sure why people are flaming..60lbs at age 10 is fairly small, so she probably doesn't have a lot of endurance. My middle daughter will be 10 next month and she would ABSOLUTELY need *something* if we were trekking around Disneyworld all day. She tires easily. She's just about 4 foot tall, 53 lbs last I checked. She broke her femur last year and walking and doing too much makes her leg hurt. Disneyworld is supposed to be fun, no need to make yourself be miserable! And with as much as we are paying, I am not going to cut the day short around hour 2 because my daughter's leg is getting sore. That's why she (and I) would appreciate something that she can sit it and chill out.

No way a normal 10 year old would want to be in a stoller!

If the 10 year old wore a disguise like Michael Jackson's kids did so no one recognized her, she might be okay with sitting in the stroller.

IMO you know her best, so if you think she might need a stroller keep inning that you can rent one at each of the parks. Give it a try without it and if you need one you can just rent one. I know that whe we have gone we always had a stroller so the kids could take a break if needed. This trip we prob won't have one and it scares me! We usually go the whole day and they are whopped at the end of the night. It also makes it easier to get anywhere rather than having "roaming" children to worry about wandering away. Good luck!

From my experience, 10 yr olds usually have more energy than adults. I wish I had the energy of a child again.
The good ole days. Outside running around every day in the fresh air. Ahhhh.

Come on people, all she asked for was if the WDW stroller would fit her granddaughter. She did not invite you to judge her. Maybe just answer the question if you can, and if not, keep the negative comments to yourself.

I'm sorry, but to put a healthy 5th grader in a stroller?? My girls were 8 and 10 the first time I took them and a stroller never crossed our minds...those are for babies and toddlers...not children almost in middle school.

I doubt your gd will need a stroller and will probably be embarrassed to
use one. But if you do find she needs/wants one you can just rent as necessary.
