Stroller for 7 yo????

My kids have'nt used a stroller since they were 2. As soon as they could walk good I got rid of it. I hated using them.
My kids never complain about being tired and they always have been able to keep up with us.

:goodvibes First time we went DD's were 9 and DS was 7. We had no problem with him keeping up. If they were hot or tired, we stopped for a 15 min break and sat! Worked great for us and we all got a breather.

Good Luck, as it seems to be individual preference to this question.:flower3:

I took my friends and one of their daughters who is 7 asked for a stroller near the end of the day, I was a bit taken back but when I realized that we could move much faster with her in the stroller than if she were to walk, get distracted by things, etc. I agreed and I tell you it made for a much better evening than the day was. She looked a tab bit smooshed but she said it was fine and ended up falling asleep while we shopped on the way out. Glad we had it.

I just got back from my college program and i was working at Magic kingdom strollers. I have seen kids 15+ use the strollers.. but a kid that is to big for a large car seat will not have fun in a single. As of now they are $10 for a single and $18 for a double. If you get more than one day rental the price goes to $8 and $16 a day. I say if you go for lots of days just get a cheep unbrella stroller and use that...you can always toss it when the trip is over. Also if you do choose to bring a stroller but still want to rent Magic Kingdom and I think the other parks too can hold the stroller backstage until you return... also a note to all that rent... please clean out your stroller before you return it... nothing like geting a used diper in the back of the stroller... and please return them... all the non returned strollers have to be picked up at the end of the night... not fun taking stacks of strollers up main street!

Should you not rent a stoller for any and all children, Then Please don't be the Parent I heard YELLING, "Well, you wanted to come to Disney didn't you, we are spending a fortune for you to have fun, just have fun, stop complaining you are ruining it for the rest of us, do you want to just go home right Now, Well?????"

How sad! :sad2:

Wouldn't it be nice to have a video camara to record adults acting worse than children. At least children are children but their is no excuse for some adult behavior! I think lots of time the adults are worse than the kids.

We just went this past Dec. and we brought our Volo for our DD8. I would say that our next trip we wont bring one, just get a rental if I feel she needs it. I do prefer to have our stroller because if nothing else it holds everything that no one wants to carry. I also like knowing exactly where she is when it is crowded or late. She did use it fairly often on this past trip. Fell asleep in it a couple of times on late nights. It is much faster to have her jump in it and take off instead of dragging her behind us. We are a commando family!!:)

Tink2dw,

I have to wholeheartedly agree! We heard things like this the last time we were there. Also, don't be the parent complaining about having to carry or hold a child if you don't bring or rent a stroller. Afterall, there little legs are half the size of ours and they have to take twice as many steps! ;>

Apparantly, I am the only crazy parent here - don't you guys "train" for Disney? It is pretty cold here but any day that it gets above 50 we take a 2 mile walk and I try to do one 5 mile walk a week. It never occured to me to rent a stroller for my 7 year old. In fact at 7, my son hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back out the next day and his only complaint was about the cold. Usually, I get tired before he does!

Northriver,

I see your point! My kids can play all day at the park or run in our yard - but Disney is a different story. We are away from home and off of their schedule. You stand alot more and you are on a HARD surface all day. Totally different from soft grass or even dirt. I also think they have so much pent up energy from the excitment of being there you almost crash a few days into it!

We were at WDW in August for youngest dd's 4th bday. We brought a stroller for the younger kids to share (they were just-turn ed-8, 6, and just-turning 4). Can you believe that not one child sat for a single minute in the stroller? 8 days in the parks.

That said, we don't commando-tour. We walk at a normal pace, and sit often to people-watch, have a drink, etc.

I guess our next trip, we won't bother to bring the stroller. On and off the bus with it, etc, just to push around some water bottles. Derrrr.

Beth
