Stroller fan?

Our vacation plans changed drastically and we will now be visiting in mid August rather than Christmas. I feel woefully unprepared for the heat. DS will not quite be a year old at the time and want to keep him shaded and cool at all times. We will have a stroller with a good sun shade but have heard people advising to get a stroller fan. Want to get some advice from those with experience on a good fan or maybe one to avoid?

I like the clip on foam blade fans...I get them on amazon and actually have 2...one on each side of the stroller.

I bought one at Babies r' Us for our September trip. I can't remember the brand off hand, but I've heard it was a wise purchase.

yes it is hot, and be constantly offering juice and water. At 1 year old, he won't be ready to tell you that he is thirsty and needs water. We took an 11 month old first week of June. It was HOT.

Dreambaby stroller fans are sold at Walmart. I got mine for around six bucks in the standard blue and white color. I noticed today that zulily has some on sale in a wider variety of colors for 6.99, if you're fashionable like that. ;) lol good luck and enjoy your vacation!

Just an off subject suggestion but besides lots of water I put my baby wipes in the fridge so they were cool for wipe downs and water, water and more water

I'd also recommend Frog Toggs or whatever generic cold towel you can find. Walmart had one that I think is called the "Perfect" towel.

I don't know about stroller fans but you can also buy extra long stroller shades with SPF to keep your baby out of the sun no matter the angle of the sun (except directly facing it). For example:

They also make a kind that ties to the bottom of the stroller like a rain cover for complete shade but I'd prefer the open one for some ventilation.

1st recommend frog toggs to use during the hottest part of the day. When you need to babywear when its hot... Wet it and put it between you and baby. Stroller fan we have a cool on the go fan I bought from Amazon. It uses batteries or USB. It's terrific! We just used it in DC all day when it was 90 dregrees outside and baby never got to too hot!

We got this one:

It's not perfect. It's quite heavy, and it takes D batteries. But it's got the best air flow of any of the ones we've tried. But it needs to be clipped to a sturdy surface due to the weight. It won't work clipped to the fabric of a stroller canopy. It lasted a surprising amount of time, battery wise, for the amount it was used + the strength of circulation. The blades are not foam, so keep that in mind. I put a twig in the blades to test damage, and it didn't break the twig. But it might hurt all the same. We just clipped ours out of reach (which worked when he was a year, but less for a 21 month old the same size as a 2.5 year old).
