Hi family. We are going to WDW 7-24 to 8/1 with a 5 month old baby.

I already have cooling towels, clip on fans, misting fans, UV umbrella, sun-hat, baby sunglasses (omg so cute), lightweight UV blanket.

The plan is to be as flexible as possible ( we have been many times and do not need to do everything this trip...), lots of indoors, minimal outdoor anything with baby and definitely not for any prolonged periods. We have lots of TS and resort time planned.

My big question is regarding the stroller. Currently, we have a car seat/stroller system which doesn't have a great canopy on it. For a 5 month old, any suggestions on best option? most strollers don't appear to be recommended for less than 6 months but it is hard to decipher exactly... I feel like one that has good coverage and lies nearly flat would be far better than the car seat system considering he would be much hotter in the car seat than lying down?

I found a baby jogger city mini on FB marketplace for $50 and feel like that would be best but i'm worried it isn't good for infants vs. older babies. I am certain others on here have had experience to share.

Also, any recommendations on clothing for the baby? I want to maintain coverage from the sun but not be too hot...

thanks!

Maybe I missed it but perhaps you forgot to add sunscreen to your list.
As for the city mini stroller if you take a look at this link:
https://www.babyjogger.com/search?i...y+mini+for+an+infant&search-button=&lang=null
you can figure out if the stroller you have is fine for an infant or if you need one of the accessories.
As for clothing, a short sleeved onesie sounds like it would be perfect for most days. The blanket will help on cooler days.
HTH and have fun.

Sunscreen was a separate question that we directly asked to the pediatrician. I guess my real concern is I think he would be best in the stroller without the car seat. I feel like it would be the cooler option, he is pretty big for his age at this point and can hold his head up when held in the sitting position... just think he would be best in a reclined position stroller. That is what I am curious about, if others have made this decision one way or another. There just doesnt seem to be much info that i can find regarding this.

Perhaps asking your pediatrician about the stroller since you feel he’s higher on the growth chart percentile?

I feel like the City Mini would work, I’m not entirely sure on the at that age. We rented one several times and loved it, but the youngest we used it was at a year. I agree that keeping them in a carseat would be way too hot. Hopefully, someone else has experience and can comment on that part.

As far as clothes, I would do a onesie and sun hat. You said you had a UV blanket, which sound awesome. Another blanket option is the Aden and Anias blankets. They are super lightweight and I used them for everything when my kids were babies. It might be a good backup to keep in your diaper bag.

I’ve had my baby in her stroller since about 4.5 months. She has really good head control so we just had it on the flattest setting and kept a close eye on her. I would test out the stroller at home and see if it looks like he’s comfortable and supporting his head okay. I’ve used thin cotton muslin blankets to make sunshades on sunny days while walking, there are stroller clips on Amazon that work well for it.

We also live somewhere pretty warm and I’ve been dressing her in cotton rompers.

ETA- You can check the baby jogger website, they have the manuals available and it should tell you. If it’s the Citi Mini gtg it says the seat is suitable from birth to 65 pounds.

Bob Revolution says it can be used for that age, as long as they can hold their head up. The canopy isn't the biggest, though. We have the snack tray add on and have tied a very lightweight blanket to the tray to help block the sun. Never did summer Disney at that age, but 1 day at another park at 6 months. Short sleeved onesie and lots of AC breaks. Also, check out the Baby Care Centers for a break.

I have the Bob Motion (which they don't make anymore) basically you're looking for a stroller that can be used in lie flat mode all the way to upright. I think my kiddo was around 5 or 6 months when she moved out of the bucket seat because she was super tall AND the clips that were used to attach the car seat to the stroller were recalled.

A lot of the Britax strollers have an infinite recline, if you can get one of those used (or splurge on a new forever stroller), I'd recommend that one.

I'm a big lover of umbrella strollers for the parks. We got a deluxe umbrella for our trip when my youngest was about that age. The back could recline to any amount you want. I'm honestly not sure what the "recommended" age was for it. It had a good canopy and when you laid it back it really covered the baby in shade.

We then kept a rechargeable fan and when he was laid back sleeping you can see where we clipped it.

It was really nice and lightweight and worked well. We went in Sept for this trip and it was blazing hot. Between his little fan, cooling towels and timing stuff inside in the A/C he was fine. We would go first thing in the AM at opening and stay until lunch or a little after then go back for naps then go back resort recharge the fan and we'd go to an early dinner and then go back to the park after. So for the big heat of the day we were back at the resorts.

To give you an idea on how hot it was while we were there we regularly were taking two showers, once at nap time and once when we got back for the night. It was sticky and gross lol.

Thank you all for the comments! I ended up buying the city mini on FB marketplace because it was such a good deal... I do think that it is a better option, it reclines nearly flat, and will be much easier to keep baby cool. He is going to be so decked out with everything to stay cool and Im excited that this will force us to take things a little easier - which should ease the pain of no FP+ and big crowds. Honestly, just so excited to be back even if we spend way less time in the parks.

The nice part about that stroller is if it's in decent enough shape, it can be a "forever" stroller.

yea it seems to be pretty good. It had been 10 years since our last baby so the stroller we had was functional but pretty beat up. Seemed like if I were to rent one it would be the same or similar model so i checked facebook, lo and behold, popped up for $50 in a couple days.

I know I’m late but we bought this exact stroller for our 5 month old when we went! I had the same concern as op since for the most part she was still in a car seat andwe LOVED this umbrella stroller. Super light and the harness gave a great peace of mind. 2 years later and we‘re driving down with it at the end of the month because it’s so much smaller than our jogging stroller.

Is your UV Umbrella for you or is it the kind that clips on the stroller? We had one of those and it was great since the stroller canopies do not fully cover baby. We had a sport brella brand that worked well. Which stroller is best is entirely your call, I would try out the city mini jogger locally on outings to see how your baby does with comfort. Does the back recline at all? If it does, it could work well and your baby may be sitting up on their own by the time you travel which will help a lot.

We never used an infant car seat on hot days for any extended period, think that would be awful to keep a child in that position in the heat. If you will be inside more and not in the parks all day long, I think you'll be ok. Plus I just googled your stroller and it came up as one of the best for taking to disney for the one handed pull strap to collapse it. That sounds awesome.
