Hi all,
Does anyone own or know anything about this umbrella stroller? I am looking into an inexpensive stroller to take to WDW. My Ds is 4 years old and 40" tall. I am not worrried about the weight restrictions as he is under 40lbs., but I am concerned that he may be too tall for it. I already returned a Cosco stroller for that very reason. Any input you can give is greatly appreciated.

hmmm... I don't know about that particular stroller but I can not open your posts anymore, I gained 5 lbs just looking at your signature.!! :rotfl: Where do you get those Mickey waffles anyway???

Seriously though, I had a combi stroller and I didn't like it because my 2 year old DS could "lift" himself with the seat and his feet would hit the ground, and he is not that tall. My 5 year old is about 39-40" and she can fit in a maclaren umbrella ok. If it has a foot rest and your ds will keep his feet up you might be ok with the combi.

btw, I'm in monmouth county. :)

Thanks for the advice. I have a Maclaren but am concerned about it being destroyed at the airport (from past experience!). I think we may know each other, Sue. Does my screen name look at all familiar to you? Do you happen to belong to any internet mom's groups? If not, then it is just a funny coincidence. BTW, the waffles are from the Cape May breakfast at the Beach Club. My DS has allergies to egg and at the time, he also had a wheat/gluten allergy, so the chef there whipped him up those delish waffles. They are usually on the buffet.

Well, I guess I can bring my Maclaren, but if the airport breaks off a wheel or something else like they have done in the past, I will be out a stroller. If I bring a cheaper one (this Combi I mentioned is $29.00 at Target) and it is damaged, I won't feel as bad. The airline should be responsible for paying for a new one anyway (at least Continental has done so in the past), but something tells me that they won't shell out the $200 cost of a Maclaren.

I wouldn't worry too much, just take what will work best for you. I have had airlines destroy and full pay for an Emmaljunga EC Sport (200+) and a Phil and Teds E3 (350+) without any problems.
I even travel with my Mountain Buggy, so no worries :)

Don't worry about the airline paying, that's why airlines have insurance :rotfl:
Of course it would still be a hassle.
I have a combi stroller and I have no problems with it with my three year old when he wants to be in it.. If he doesn't want to be in a stroller, I can't keep him in ANY stroller
Good Luck !!!! :mickeybar

OK, well there must be a Target executive lurking on these boards bc I went to the website today to look at the stroller again and the price went up $10!!!! They are offering a 10% off coupon via e-mail--perhaps this is why they raised it? Oh well, maybe it's still $29.99 in the stores.

We have gate checked our Maclaren Volo and our Peg Perego Pliko P3 which is a pretty expensive stroller and we didn't have any problems with the airlines damaging them. I think if you would check the stollers with the rest of the luggage it may get damaged the way they throw those bags around. Since the Maclarens and Peg Perego's are made so well, I don't think you should worry about them breaking.

I was tempted to buy a stroller transport bag, they make them for Maclarens and Peg Perego's specifically, because both my strollers were brand new at the time and I didn't want them to get dirty or ruined, but we decided to go without the bags, and they were just perfect. I have a friend who bought a Maclaren transport bag for her stroller and she gate checks hers in the bag.

Good luck with your decision!!!

I just posted about the Maclaren Volo and the Peg Perego P3, and I forgot to mention that we had 2 combi's before we bought these strollers, and we hated the combi strollers. Too lightweight and flimsy, and doesn't accommodate the taller children very well. My dd was not very comfortable in those strollers. Also, the combi's handles are so low, compared to the Maclarens that my dh and I were always slouching over when we had to push the stroller and we would constantly kick the back wheels. I don't know if the newer combi models are any better, but I would hesitate to buy another!

Thank you for all of your posts. I will probably end up taking my old reliable Maclaren down with us and hope for the best. Fact is, my DS has used this stroller for 4 years, and if for some reason it gets damaged, it really would not be the end of the world. I have also realized that he won't be using the stroller as often or at all pretty soon!

www.babyuniverse.com has the Combi STS-1 for $34.99. Their shipping costs less than Target, so the price somes out to about the same. I bought it for my 6mo, but my 4yo DS who is just about 40" sat in it, and I think it would work fine

ETA
I see that baby universe raised their price to $39.99 too. I'm glad I ordered mine 2 weeks ago.
