String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

Hi Beth,

I want to add my congratulations to your success this past year. In looking at your figures and the progress you have made, I have a big smile on my face! We started off at a similar weight and are current stats are pretty similar. I'm also lcing as you probably know. It's wonderful to see someone as determined as you to make such fantastic progress with all life's ups and downs. I know you will make it to your goal!

P.S. You are so right, this board is so inspirational. You are right not to bury this journal and start a new one. I have struggled the past few months and have not journaled at all. It was freeing at first but I'm ready to come back to it now. I need it and I see you need journaling too. I guess what we really need is each other. What a great place we have here!!!!

YEAH for a good weekend, Beth! I am so glad you were able to have a manageable time at work, and some good sleep as well! I am sure Won will protect those 'family jewels' and make sure you get the sleep you so rightly deserve. :)

Here's to a great week!

I'm a little late for the celebration but....
:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: Yeah for you! Those numbers look absolutely awesome!

I'm glad you are getting rest and filling out the FMLA forms. Take care of yourself and don't push it. You've got 4 weeks until the half marathon - you may feel up to it, but if not that is okay! You will still be with us!

Hi All,

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday. It was my usual Monday struggle. I did get a nap in, but then I couldn't sleep last night. Today is Katie's last dance class for 2 weeks, and our last ANYTHING until January. It will be nice to not be running here and there. I know that I will be pulling my hair out with my bored 4 year old, but I am ready from a break from her schedule.

I did really well with eating yesterday. I managed about 1200 calories, so I am happy with that. I did have a ham/cheese omelet last night, and today I feel bloated and dehydrated. I'll push the water today. I have decided tomorrow to go back to the Y. I'll feel better once this body is moving again. I am going to take it REALLY slowly and listen to my body. Imagine, me listening to what a doctor says!

We still haven't heard anything on PB. Won is calling his father today.
Beth

Hi Michelle

Today I am venturing back to the Y. I am going to stroll for 1-2 miles. I also agreed to take Katie swimming in exchange for an extra 1/2 hour sleep this morning. 4 years old, and she knows exactly when to negotiate with Mommy. I am in trouble in the fututre.

I know I will need a nap after a morning of activity, so that is planned. I also need to start baking. I have a cookie exchange at work on Friday, and it is requested that I make the Kahlua cookies.

Ok, I'm off.
Beth

Kahlua cookies - I must have the recipe! YUMMY!
Don't push yourself to hard today - know when you are reaching your limit.

Well, the cookies didn't get made. I overdid it today. Yes, I can hear Amanda in the background saying, "I knew she would." I would have been fine walking the 2 miles OR taking Katie swimming, but not both. Even though I got a 2 hour nap this afternoon, I am headed to bed as soon as dinner is over. I had planned on doing journals tonight, but I need the sleep. I will catch up tomorrow.
Beth

I was grinning at your story about Katie negotiating - sleep time for swim time! :p Yes, you are definitely going to be in trouble in the future!! She sounds so adorable!

Beth, this may sound strange, but I'm GLAD you overdid it yesterday. It will remind you to take it easy for the next week or two! Please, please, please go slowly. With all the extra holiday busyness and stress (even GOOD times can be stressful), you really must pare down to the essentials. The exercise will be waiting for you, I promise. OK, I'll get out of Mom-mode now. :teeth:

I'm sending :goodvibes: for a good day!

Doe, you are probably right. I needed a kick in the behind.

Today started out with a fight with DH. I came downstairs and the dishes from last night weren't done. Ugh. I am working on laundry and baking today. HE needs the cookies for work tomorrow. I need the kitchen in order. Granted, it took me 15 minutes to get it situated, but the point is that I need help right now. He played computer games until 1 AM. He bloody well could have done the dishes. Can you tell I'm still annoyed? It is all I can do to get through the day, and he hasn't picked up any of the chores that I do. I'm ready to go on strike.

My Mom is coming over this afternoon. We'll head out to dinner, so I don't have a plan. I won't make it to the Y today. That is definately ok. I may or may not go tomorrow. It will depend on how I feel.

I will be hitting journals between cookie batches and laundry loads. It will be another early night.
Take care,
Beth

Hi Beth...

Okay, I have to throw my 2 cents in. Your making cookies FOR your DH, but he won't help out with the housework??? That's your first problem... no way in hell that I would be busting my butt to make something for DH for work and have him not help out. You let him get away with way too much. :earseek: My DH knows that if he doesn't help out once in awhile, he might be packing a bag and moving back with his parents :smooth: Actually, DH is really good about doing stuff if I ask him. Of course, I have to ask him several times before he remembers :earboy2:

Good luck.....

Hi All,

Weighin today was 204. I'm thrilled. I am no longer dehydrated and my GI system is working properly, so that is a real number. I also endulged in WAY TOO MANY kahlua cookies last night. I should not have chocolate in the house when I am angry. On the plus side, I finished wrapping most of the presents last night.

Yes Won needed cookies, but I did too. I had agreed to bring cookie for a cookie exchange at work. Won went out last night with his supervisor. Looks like he will be put on a new priject in January. He is excited about it. It will be a challenge, and is still close to home. He will also be working with 2 of his friends that are actually knowledgable. He actually left for work with a smile.

No plan for the day. I know that I will be wiped out for work, if I workout today. I need to get Katie packed for a weekend with Mimi and papa. They pick her up Saturday, and I pick her up Monday evening. Since today is my Mom's last day of work, Katie can spend the time with them and not be bored to tears on Monday. WE wil take a nap, and I need to figure out something to take to work for food.

Ok, I need to play with the monchichi now. Take care and have a great weekend.

My husband use to do this all the time....still does occasionally. We have a deal whoever cooks does not have to clean the kitchen. I do most of the cooking. But his idea of cleaning was to move the dirty skillet from the stove to the sink and filling it up with water and soap. Great - can ya clean it? Oh - he will once it was done soaking - inevitably I would come home from work the next day and the pan would still be in the sink. Now I have to clean it - so that I can cook with it AGAIN. Finally I explained what the heck was the point of having a deal if I have to clean the pan the next day. All it does is waste time - why can't he just clean it? Then he moved on to just sticking it in the Dish Washer - good idea in theory but since the dishwasher doesn't have to be ran every night - that really didn't work out either. Now if the pan is still in the sink I make him clean it when he gets home and then start dinner. Actually works out well because then I get to sit my lazy butt on the couch for the 30 minutes I am waiting on him to get home.

Men don't get it - they are programmed differently then we are. My DH always says, "you need to let me know when you need help?" Well can't you see my stressing? Can't you see all the little things that need to be done around the house? GET UP AND DO THEM! Needless to say - I think I have him reprogrammed from his mother. This of course being said after I picked up not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 dish towels from the living room because he thinks he needs a new one every time he eats something! :confused3 :headache: :confused3

Hope today is better!

~Amanda

Beth, I saw the Kahlua cookie recipe in Amanda's journal - I can definitely see why you'd HAVE to have them! :p They sound heavenly!

I'm glad you're not going to the Y today. Save that strength for your shift tonight! At least you'll be able to sleep well on Sunday and Monday, with Katie off having a good time with your parents. Excellent planning on your part! ::yes::

Best wishes for a restful nap today and a good shift tonight!

Hi Beth,

I've skimmed through your journal to get to know you :)

Katie sounds like a doll. You've made sooooo much progress, its amazing :flower:

I'll be sure to stop by often :)

Amanda I didn't know we were married to brothers! :earboy2: They don't look anything alike from your pictures, but must be fraternal twins separated at birth. ;)

Hang in there Beth. Hope you are feeling rested for your shift! Take care.

Beth - Glad your feeling better. I know your tired, but when you can get on the scale and feel happy, your doing SOMETHING right :earboy2: Hope you have a wonderful weekend without Katie. It's amazing how relaxed I am when the kids aren't around :earseek:

Amanda - I know EXACTLY how you feel. I ask my DH "Do you LIKE having the house look like this?" After almost 15 years, he's starting to get it that he shouldn't wait until I totally lose it before he and the kids help out. Better late than never...... :earseek:

It is definately a guy thing. I think fathers pass this info onto sons just before the wedding.

I'm off to work, and I am dreading it. I will get through this weekend. (Chants as a mantra). I am sorry I didn't get to everyone's journals.

BTW, I won $50 for that recipe from the Kahlua company. They really are good cookies.

Have a great weekend,
Beth
