Maintenance and garden workers went on strike today. At first they blocked the gates and let the visitors pass one by one. Later on they opened the gates and everyone could get inn without a ticket.
After that they tried to block the shows and in the afternoon they went to the Studios.
Here the tried to make a protest march behind the parade but security personnel would not let them. It came to a little incident.
After this they went to the Princess parade and attractions to disturb them.
New strikes will follow in the coming days off all the departments.

Oh no! We're off next Tuesday and I hope this doesn't affect us! :sad2: Where did you find out about this? Do you know why they're striking?

I’m member of a Dutch forum and one of the other forum-members works in DLRP.
She posted this one hour ago so its hot from the needle an right from the source.
I understood that all departments off the personnel will go on strike.
As soon as I hear other news I will post it of course.
The strike is about money.

I sympathise with their reason for striking :sad2: But I do feel sorry for any visitors who are affected by these strikes - it would certainly spoil the magic.

:wizard: :wizard: for your visit Sarahc.

This is definitely an escalation of strike activity.

I too understand the reason, just a shame for the guests. Hope management sort this out quickly :)

Eurodisney: 300 paid maintenance express for the wages

CHESSY (Seine-et-Marne), 12 seven 2006 13h17 (AFP) - Approximately 300 paid strikers of the maintenance of the park of Eurodisney leisures expressed Tuesday morning, to claim a revalorization of the wages, noted a journalist of AFP.

The movement did not involve disturbances in the operation of attractions, according to the trade unions and the direction.
The strike to which called, as from Tuesday, the trade unions CFDT, CFTC, CGT, FO, Unsa and Sipe, and whose principal watchword is a revalorization of the wages of 200 euros monthly, "was followed to 50% of the personnel, as well of the night shifts as of day", according to Pierre Brossard of CFDT.
Only CFE-CGC did not take part in the movement.
"300 paid" according to trade unions', "250 to 300" according to the police force, gathered as from 10h00, Tuesday, on the carpark of station the RER of Marne-the-Valley (Seine-et-Marne) before expressing in front of the entries of the two parks of Dysneyland and organizing operations "ticket free", then to ravel in the park until front the castle of Disneyland.
"Disney of under!", the demonstrators stressed, whereas on the streamers one could read: "premiums of night of misery, weekend (of work) free, the technicians depress, 200 euros for all".
Monday a meeting between the trade unions and the direction had not succeeded, the direction indicating "not to have taken actions pursuant favorable at the requests of paid" and "to have required of them to return with more reasonable claims", according to its spokesman, Pieter Boterman.
The strike should "be renewed at the time of general assembly Wednesday morning", has on its marked side Pierre Brossard.

Tomorrow for 8u there meeting of castmembers backstage is further stipulate action....

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: The strikes might be necessary and i hope they will accomplish objectives or a new agreement very soon, but it is sad and far too real for visitors.

I really hope this comes to a conclusion soon with an out come that both parties are happy with.
Also I hope that no one's trip is to disrupted.

Like others have said I do sympathise but feel so sorry for anyone who is holidaying there. The photographers were protesting when we were there but it didn't affect our enjoyment of the park at all, it just seemed a little out of place at Disney. I would feel absolutely gutted if after scrimping and saving all year for my holiday I couldn't watch the parade.

Lots of :grouphug: and pixiedust: for you Sarah and anyone else who is visiting soon.

Yes I can see its frustrating working there with crap money. I still do not think this is appropriate behaviour around Disney, which pledges magical place on earth. We experienced this in August. I have to say thier were a few children who were scared and I felt a little threatened by it. I think this behaviour is unacceptable. I am a nurse and I feel I am poorly paid, but do you see me blocking theatres, A&E entrance so I can get more money. Heck no. I knew the wages were poor before I started. If you do not like your job then find something else. Its typical french way. Sorry for sounding racist. I am not racist far from it. My aunt is french and she moans and moans about the way they would strike at just a drop of the hat. She hates that. She gets embarrassed by thier behaviour. Why on earth did Disney put it in France when the magic is spoilt by protestors especially rides and parades. Come on imagine what the kids will be thinking. Its devastating for them. My Casey was scared and could not understand what was going on. I have to say I was in two minds about DLP, but this confirmed to me that I do not particularly like DLP, but would go again as a cheap trip for dd and ds.

Exactly. You would not experience this in WDW.

At my college last year there was an American in my class who used to be a Cast Member (he worked on jungle cruise) anyway he said if there government treat them like our government did us they would be riots in America. maybe the CM at wdw just don't have reason to strike.

Today the Central Reservations Office partly went on strike.
The French and international telephone lines went on strike. Also the suites department went on strike.

The strike is getting bigger. The staff partly refuses to serve the guests so yesterday the executive board themselves had to help serve out.
To day the staff will not serve breakfast in ALL the hotels.
This weekend will by rather calm because most union workers are free.
The expectation is that one Monday the strikes will expand.

The parade on is this moment is a problem and some attractions are temporally closed when the strikers pass by.
Most attractions work normal under the circumstances. Also the shows work normally.

I can't believe this has escalated so much, would have thought all parties involved would have resolved this by now. The adverse publicity must be very damaging to the image of DLP.

I know many people who believe it should have been built in spain instead of france - weather, travel, costs, people, being the main reasons, but this looks like another one to add to the list

Hopefully this is sorted out a soon as possible.

Just got back from a week long stay at DLP We didnt see any parades except for yesterday when Disney stuck 2 fingers up at the strikers and had the parade music and all the dancers/characters as well as sneaking in an extra performance of the stunt show (which had been cancelled the day before). The people on strike made me very mad, they laughed about cancelling the parade it just seems like one huge joke to them and what made me even more angry was the fact that most of them where wearing designer clothes and sunglasses yet claim to need more money. It just seemed like they were having a good time. I found them very intimidating and they scared most children they went past.
The castmembers who were working were wonderful and many of them seemed ashamed to be associated with the strikers. This is my 3rd visit to DLP and I will not be going again for this length of time. Disney to me is the parade and shows and for these selfish people to ruin mine and many others holidays is not acceptable I think they should look at themselves and ask should they really be working at a place like disney with this attitude.
