On Labor Day weekend of last year(2011) I developed a stress fracture in my heal. I want to start running again, but I know I will need new sneakers. Has anyone ever dealt with a heal stress fracture? What brand of running shoe did you find worked best for you?

I did not have a stress fracture, but have dealt with a nasty heel fat pad injury and plantar fasciitis in the the same foot and I run in Brooks Ghost. They are a neutral shoe, and I have been really happy with them. I replace them about every 3 months, probably more frequently than most people, but I can really tell when the heel cushioning is gone.

Do you have a physical therapist? They might have a recommendation for you.

Good luck as you resume your training.:goodvibes Foot injuries stink!

Thanks, my friend wears Brooks too and really likes them. I need something real padded in the heel now, at least I think I do, and I think I will need something that sits low one the back of my ankle. Both of my running shoes are higher in the back, and my ankle/heel hurts after I wear them a little. The fracture runs, or ran, diagonally top to bottom.
