strep throat in disney

has anybody else heard about an outbreak of strep throat at dw? i have 3 friends( different families) that returned from Disney and who all came down with strep throat while there.. Heading down in November for Thanksgiving and want to be prepared...

Their is not a epidemic or anything. But when you have that many people coughing and sneezing on you easy to get sick.
Our allergens have been exceptionally high this week, that could be playing a part.

Out of curiosity where were they staying?

I believe that one family was at the saratoga springs and the others were together at the animal kingdom lodge..

Were they on the same flight? Did they ever meet up as a group?

Please be cautious about assuming that contagion at Disney is any different from, say, contagion when children are together in schools. My teens both tested positive for strep last weekend, picked up here in Illinois. It's going around, with several other unpleasant illnesses. I wouldn't hold the family back from a Disney trip unless I was also willing to keep healthy kids out of school to prevent contagion which, at current illness rates, would be plum silly.

Not sure about strep throat, but I know H1N1 is going around. My DS, DH and I came home with it 2 weeks ago and my doctor said his family, his sister and another family, on vacation with them, all came down with H1N1, a couple of weeks before that, while at Disney.

Like the previous poster stated though, when you have that may people in close confines it is easy to see how ANY highly contagious airborne illness can be passed around. The best thing to do is go to Disney and have a good time. Don't spend your time and energy worrying about getting sick . Hopefully you and your family will not catch anything while there.
