Straws at AK?

There's a similar thread going on over on the family board, but this board tends to get more activity, so I thought I would ask here too.

Are there straws at AK? I was thinking they had paper straws, but I can't remember.

Also, is a sippy cup with a straw OK or do I need to try to find something else my kid will drink out of?

Paper straws only. If the straws on your little one's sippy cup at the built in ones, that might be ok, but I'm not sure. If it is just a regular plastic straw, then no.

They don't hand out plastic straws because they don't want them getting into the animals environment. When my dd was little, I brought those juice boxes where you poke in the attached straw. I never had any problem that they weren't allowed. I was always careful to make sure my trash was placed in the proper can. I can't imagine your young child's sippy would be a problem. Just make sure any trash is placed in a can or leaves with you.

I have seen them take away wrapped juice box straws before. I have brought in sippy cups with a straw built in to the lid with no problem.

Those are not allowed anymore. A plastic straw that cannot be detached from the cup is OK. Any other straw has to be paper.
