Anyone have one? Please:worship: I never heard of it before and my Dh wants me to make him one with all the berries we picked the other day.

I can't find a receipe in my books. I thought about looking online but I want one that is tried and good.;)

I use an old-timey recipe from my late mom that we like. I don't know where she got it from, but it's probably been around for a long time. :goodvibes:

Strawberry Pie
1 c. sugar
6 tbsp. strawberry Jello (dry powder from box, regular strawberry flavor or can use wild strawberry flavor)
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. boiling water
4 c. prepared strawberries (cleaned and tops removed, can be cut or left whole)
1 Keebler Ready Crust Shortbread cookie crust (found in baking aisle, usually beside the prepared graham cracker crusts)

Mix first 3 ingredients well. Add boiling water and cook over medium heat until thick. Cool. After this has cooled, add strawberries (can be cut or left whole). Pour in pie shell and put in fridge. Serve with whipped cream.

FYI - also when fresh peaches are in season you can substitute peach jello and cut fresh peaches for a yummy peach pie.

Oh I just found a picture of the crust - it looks like this, and is surprisingly good. See where it's marked "Shortbread", NOT graham cracker crust:

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
6 tsp corn starch
pinch of salt
1 small pkg of sugar free strawberry jello
1 and 1/2 quart of strawberries
1 pkg cream cheese
1 graham cracker crust
6 drops of red food coloring

Soften cream cheese until spreadable, spread in the graham cracker crust. Stick in fridge to chill. Cut strawberries in quarters and place on top of cream cheese placing to fit so they are almost even with edge of the crust.

Mix water, sugar, cornstarch, salt & jello in saucepan. Cook until think and clear of all bits of cornstarch. Pour jello mixture over berries.(be careful not to overflow) Chill for several hours or overnight.
Top with your favorite whipped topping (if desired)

just posted the same recipe... Ha:laughing:

I do not have a pie receipe but what I do is (just did it yesterday)cut up a few cartons of big strawberrys and sprinkle sugar on them, stick in fridge for a few hours.I get a carton of heavy whipping cream beat with sugar and vanilla extract until fluffy and put the berrys in a bowl with whipped cream on top and EAT!! I get this when we got to the tea room at the GF and it is soooo good and simple.

Yours is a little different since it has cream cheese - actually it sounds better than mine! Maybe I'll try yours next :cutie:

I was just talking to my aunt and she says that she also had my recipe for a long time and it was supposed to be like Frisch's (Big Boy) strawberry pie. It doesn't seem like that to me, but I've usually only had Frisch's pie after eating a Big Boy and onion rings, so maybe my taste buds were off

If you like a pie with more of a glaze, I use Strawberry Junket Danish Dessert.
The recipe is on the box. You cook the junket after adding cold water, and cook until thick and then cool. I always use this and get many compliments. I use most of a quart of berries that are cleaned and cut in 1/2--stir in after cooled and place in pie crust. They could be left whole too.

I also use the Raspberry one with either fresh or frozen Raspberries and that is also a very favorite.

I usually make either a Pillsbury pie crust that you bake, or a ready graham cracker crust. Either works well.

This could be hard to find in some areas of the US. I know in MI I can't find it at Meijer but it is available in other stores. It is found by the jello and pudding boxes.

It is a lot like the strawberry pie at Big Boy if you are familiar with that.

Sometimes there is a glaze packet available in the produce department at the grocery store too, but that tends to not be as thick a glaze.

Ok, I don't have a real recipe, but this is what I do to make the glaze.

Take about 2 c. strawberries (I use the mushy ones that aren't good enough for the pie, but not moldy yet.
Add just enough water to cover, bring to boil, and simmer for a bit. Strain the berries out
Add sugar (maybe 1 cup, or more if u like it sweet sweet)
Use cornstarch mixed w/ just a bit of cold water and cont to simmer until thickened (like you do w/ gravy)
Let cool, and add the berries.

this is the one I use :thumbsup2. Yum!

The recipes posted sound delicious! I saved them. Strawberry pie is one of my favorites. I have made this pie many times and really love the almond flavor with the strawberries.

Glazed Fresh Strawberry Pie

Ingredients
Crust:
1 1/2 cups crushed shortbread cookies
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup chopped almonds

Filling:
2 pints (about 2 pounds) strawberries, hulled
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons Argo® Corn Starch
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation
Crust: MIX all ingredients. Press into 9-inch pie pan. Bake at 350°F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned.

Filling: MASH (or puree) enough strawberries to equal 1 cup; add 1/3 cup water. Combine sugar and corn starch in small saucepan. Stir in mashed strawberries.

COOK over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil (15 to 20 minutes). Boil 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in almond extract and salt. Cool 10 minutes.

FILL cooled crust with remaining whole strawberries; pour cooked strawberry mixture over berries. Refrigerate at least 3 hours. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.

Recipe Note: A baked 9-inch pie crust may be substituted for the cookie crust.

Thank you ALL! They ALL sound so good. I have to go and pick more berries so I can make them. I just made a batch of Strawberry jam and used up almost all the berries we picked.

The rest were getting soft so I froze them for Straw Marg:thumbsup2 for this weekend. Now I will have a pie to go with the Marg when our friends come up.

I just told Dh I got lots of ideas to try. I can't wait. I will let you know which I try.

Thanks Again!

I have made this one before and it is really good. Not sure if you have all the ingredients on hand. I used regular cool whip instead of cool whip lite.

Well I made this (with one minor switch, blue berry jello instead of strawberry, all I had). I can't wait for Saturday to try it. We have friends coming over and I made this and an apple pie.

Next time I will make another recipe given.

Thanks again!
