Strawberry Festival

Has anyone been to the Plant City Strawberry Festival? I just found out that this is happening while I'm there on a solo trip.. May be something new to do and I love strawberries.... Can you tell me about it

The Strawberry Festival is sort of like a big county fair with exhibits of food and craft creations, midway rides and games, and entertainment (lots of country music acts) at night over a week and a half or two week period at the beginning of March. The fair attracts a lot of people and traffic may be jammed in some places. Check out www.flstrawberryfestival.com.

Not far from the fairgrounds is a BIG strawberry and Florida citrus fruit centric farm stand operated by the Parke family called Parkesdale Farm Market. The strawberry shortcakes are well worth the stop at the roadside market but during the festival it's almost guaranteed to be really crowded and likely difficult to find a parking slot. If you love strawberries, then a trip to Plant City is well worth it. As the previous poster mentioned, Parkesdale Farms has quite possibly the best strawberry shortcake you will ever eat. We made the short drive from Tampa to Plant City last weekend, just to eat their shortcake. If you like country music, the festival has a pretty good lineup of entertainers. There are also a lot of different craft areas that you can shop at within the festival grounds.

If you sole purpose for going to the festival is to eat strawberries, then I'd just go straight to Parkesdale Farms. However, if you like the amusement rides, music, and arts and crafts, then check out the festival as well! Enjoy!

It's really just a regular fair....with a midway....lots of food booths....some craft booths....lots of country bands and pig racing of all things....and an overload of strawberries sold prior to entering the fair gates...and some great strawberry shortcake...although I have to say I am more apt to buy the apple dumpling with vanilla ice cream! Yummy!!

The Florida State Fair is here right now which is slightly larger than the Strawberry Festival.

Since I have passes to Disney I can go to Disney for the day for LESS money than attending the fair!

Both are about 15 minutes from my house.
