Strategy to watch Magic Kingdom fireworks on "day off"?

My sister and I are going to be at Disney World next week (yay!), and we planned one "day off" from the parks to sleep in, go to Disney Springs, etc. and not go into any of the parks.

I was thinking it would be nice to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from somewhere (we're planning Magic Kingdom for Thursday), but it looks like all the restaurants are booked.

Any suggestions? Go to California Grill or Ohana and stand in line? Eat an early dinner and head over to the Polynesian Resort beach???

Also, what's the best way to get to the monorail from Pop Century?

Well, you can watch from the Poly Beach or the TTC. I wouldn't try to get in at the restaurants if they have no ADRs - it will be tough. How many park days do you have on your tickets already? If you already have like 6 adding another doesn't cost much. You could hop in just for fireworks if the price works for you.

To get on the Monorail from POP you just have to take a bus to MK. Then you can go to the Monorail or take the boats over to TTC or Poly.

You could spend a night at Fort Wilderness. There is an outdoor movie and sing-along with Chip and Dale, and you can watch fireworks from the beach and also see the Electrical Water Pageant. Trail's End is a great place for dinner too, or Crockett's Tavern for a drink.

If it’s just the two of you, consider eating at California Grill’s lounge. Walk up and you can order off the restaurant menu. IIRC, as long as you keep your receipt, you come back and show it to gain access to the viewing area to watch the fireworks.

We like the view from outside Gasparillas at the Grand Floridian. You can order food at the counter service restaurant and they will deliver it to your table while you watch the fireworks. Best of all, they pipe in the music.

I would take the bus to MK and then the boat (or monorail) to the Grand Floridian from Pop Century.

We like the Cali Grill lounge, the view from Gasparilla’s or the boat dock at GF and also Trader Sam’s outdoor terrace at Poly. As others have suggested, a bus to MK will get you to the monorail and resort boats in that area. You can also walk to CR from the MK bus stop. Or, splurge a little and consider uber/Lyft from Pop.

TTC Ferry Dock is a great place. Plenty of room.

Other good option is the hill outside Tokelau, stick around for a Dole Whip or hippopotomai-tai, and the Electrical Water Pageant.

Capa at the Four Seasons is my suggestion. It's on Disney property, open to anyone (not just hotel guests), they have a fabulous menu and views from pretty much any table in their 15th floor location or they have a large patio off the bar area if you just want to get drinks.

You can also view the fireworks from the walkway between The Contemporary and Bay Lake Towers. Not sure if you can enter the bridge without a room key, but you can watch it from the ground.

Most of the QS places on the monorail are really good. Personally, I would grab dinner at Captain Cooks (Poly), when pick-up a drink from Trader Sam's patio before heading to the beach to watch fireworks.

I second this suggestion! Go to Fort Wilderness and do the outdoor movie/sing-along and watch the fireworks from the beach. It won't be as close as some of the other hotels or TTC, but it's still pretty cool and fun!
