Strategy for Upgrade with GTY

Wondering if checking in later vs. earlier would make for a better chance at complimentary upgrade if cabins are not filled? We are GTY anyway so I guess we have nothing to lose or better to check in early as others have GTY. too? any thoughts?

We were on GTY and were assigned a room about 30 days before we cruised. It was listed when we received our documents. We were upgraded from GTY11 to a 9.

If you were interested in a further upgrade at port, I would suggest you get there as early as possible. I doubt you would be able to get a complimentary upgrade at port - but it is worth asking for. You may have better luck paying the upgrade charge.

You will most likely get your cabin assignment when you get your documents. IF you are going to get an upgrade, it is usually done then. It never hurts to ask at check in, and you could always pay for an upgrade there, if available.
