Strategies to Survive during the HOT HOT Summer...

Here's another tip if you drive to the parks: a cold spray bottle of water use it to spray your air vents and will help cool the car down a bit faster

We always bring along those cheap Chinese folding paper fans. They are small, lightweight and can be slipped into a handbag. We have experimented with the mister fans but they are too bulky now that the kids are older.

Also, I know you are looking for heat busters, but I also throw a pashmina in my bag or tie it to my cross-body bag because the hotter it gets outside, the colder they blast the A/C, especially on the busses and in some shows. It is nice to have something to throw over your shoulders when you find yourself riding along in a refrigerator!

Ooh yes! You can find some good fans like that in Epcot, I want to say back in those stores in China.

Love the mini-mister fans! So much better than the heavy, clunky large mister fans. The small ones have a carabineer clip, so easy to attach to a belt loop or strap of a bag. You do have to refill the water reservoir more often, since they're so small, but I absolutely loved mine!

Do you suggest one per person? I bought 2 for 4 of us to share, we are all adults. I'm thinking that I'll get a couple of lanyards to put them on, but I do carry a mini hipster that I can hang mine from.

Long skirts are a no no... Why is this?

I had work done to my leg and will have to wear the dreaded and awful compression garment on one of my legs for our fall trip. For obvious reasons capris or shorts are out for me. I thought a light long maxi skirt would be better than wearing long pants.

Am I wrong to assume this?

Ok, so if you wet them in the morning, how did you transport them until you were ready to use them? We only ever stored them for a couple hours at most, but maybe the heat and being in a sealed ziploc did something. I just didn't want them to be loose in our bag when they were wet.

I just ordered 2 Frogg Toggs from Amazon. I'm going in September and would also like to make sure I know how to pack them for the parks. I was thinking of doing just as a PP said, which is to wet them with ice/cold water before leaving the room. Now I'm hoping that this won't cause a problem.
So, how do you transport your Frogg Toggs to the park? Wet or dry?

Yes, I'd recommend everyone have one of their own. They're inexpensive (about $5 each) so it would only cost around $20 to outfit everyone with one. Better to spend a little up front than wish you'd gotten one for everyone!

And don't forget to bring some extra batteries!

I bring them wet in a Ziploc.

Then I rinse them out at night and let them hang dry for the next day! :)

Saving this thread, as I'm going this September, eek! I'm obsessing over what kind of clothes to wear; definitely need something to help with dreaded chaffing. Been considering skorts, workout clothes, etc. How about underwear? What do you ladies recommend for the best underwear to wear? (Sorry if TMI)

I found an non-padded bra was much more comfortable. You will be sweating, so at least that way you would dry off when you went into ac. I tried sports bras, but really preferred a regular one. Just pack lots of everything! I changed clothes midday, everyday.

Can anyone recommend an electrolyte that isn't flavored? Can't stand the flavor of things like Gatorade/PowerAde etc, plus would prefer without sugar. There are loads of electrolyte tablets listed online, but no clue how to tell a good from a bad.
Nuun tablets are the best.

Especially in the Fall, I think a maxi-skirt will be great. Another thought would be airy wide leg pants that are so popular now or even a pair of Columbia or REI adventure pants. Many are made of quick dry fabric and are so lightweight and breathable.

Can anyone else give advice on wearing a compression garment at Disney?

if you have little kids just get a cup of ice and they can hold it and play....also the night before wet some washcloths put them in a zip loc bag and put them in your freezer and you can use them to cool off all day.......

You will end up being the one with the fan pointing it at everyone else instead of yourself! Now I make sure we all have our own.

Most of our trips have been summer ones and these tips are all excellent!! The capri tip especially!!!

All great tips as we are doing these as I type. The only place we won't fill our water bottles is mk. That water tastes nasty for some reason. I carry a cooler backpack with a battery powered fan/sprayer, ziplock bag of ice with 3 water bottles, wet wipes, band aids, pain relief medicine. We have been fortunate with it being breezy most every day. Towards the end of our trip we will take a break at the hotel and that has been nice. The first 4-5 days we will not take the mid day break.

We use Frogg Toggs last summer on our trip with our nieces ages 10, 9, and 8. LOVED THEM!

We purchased different colors for easy differentiation on the go. I would rinse out the sweat from the day each evening and hang to dry in the open air to prevent mustiness. Then each morning I would wet and ring each towel, place it into a fresh ziplock bag ( fresh bags to prevent mustiness) and then put all into my backpack. I could distribute as needed if waiting in the sun or the heat was getting to us without having to detour to a bathroom sink. If we used them to the point of drying out, I did I find a sink or use a cup of ice water to re-wet them as needed.

We were at WDW the first week of August and on the go all the time. These really helped us deal with the heat ☀️
