I am a long time first week in Sept. Disney visiter. I know what low crowds look like, I know what crowds look like.... this was not low or medium crowds, this was July crowds.
Last year I read a lot of end of August low crowds and decided I would visit just a bit ealier this year to get my Disney fix. After what I experinced last week I would urge others to move thier trip if at all possible.
I expereinced sold out fast passes or passes that would come "due" 5 to 6 hours after I got them. 100+ minutes soarin, 50-60 minute SM, "gasp" 30 minutes Pirates, 90 min splash, sold out passes Everest, 50+ minute Mission Space. People runnning to get fast passes and lines for fast passes and sold out fast passes.... crazzy. Get this... there was even a 25 minute wait for the HM : ) I dont remeber the line reaching to the street since I was a kid and went during the summer(ditto for Pirates, there's never a line for Pirates, its like alternate universe or something).
Yes I did go in the morning and got to do a lot of what I wanted, but I had to do a lot of walking as fast passes became due and had to leave the parks by 11:00. Our last night at the MK to see wishes we gave up on riding rides (except Mickys Phil Harmonic which always seems to be a short wait).
Anyways, I am a spoiled September brat used to walking on rides, no lonnger then 20 minute waits for main attractions, able to make some ADRs on the fly and even able to stay after 11:00 and still ride rides. Next time I am going to watch out for the free dining and be willing to change my dates if need be.
Glad Disney is making the money to keep the parks up, and hoping I can out fox the Disney promotions people next year,
Callas

Yes, it's their job but can't they leave well enough alone sometimes!
