I just bought the Cannon S3 as well as the Tamrac Adventure Zoom 5 camera bag, am also planning on using it to carry extra batteries,sd card my casio exilim just in case as well as a minipod strapped to the back of it. Anyway the question I have is when you are using a bag or a backpack do people use a camera strap?wrist strap? or just hand hold the camera then put it back in the bag?:confused3
I apologize for the lengthy question

Hi! I have an S3, and even though I use a camera bag (and shove the camera bag into whatever purse/tote I have with me), I still use the neck strap on the camera. Kind of a lot of straps hanging around, but I just feel safer. Even when I'm setting my camera up on a tripod, I'll leave the strap around my neck as a safety net - maybe the camera isn't secure on the tripod, or maybe someone will come along and knock over the tripod. I figure if I have the strap around my neck, it might keep the camera from bouncing on the ground!

i usually keep my camera out of the bag and on my neck so i always use a neck strap, even when i have it on a monopod

Strap. I have a tendency to drop it otherwise (which is why I had to get a new camera in the first place ;) ).

I was never one for a strap until I got my S3 IS, after investing so much I decided to give it a little extra protection by using the strap. Well needless to say a day later when I was out shooting around the boat I ended up loosing my grip on the camera and because of the strap my neck caught it and saved it from a 4 to 5 foot drop. Ever since it is the first thing that I put onto my camera. All in all I would always suggesting using a strap as it is just a little more insurance on not having to worry about dropping your camera.

I've gotten very comfortable using the hand strap on my 30d w/grip. The neck strap was getting in the way too much and I usually just put it back in my shoulder bag anyway.
