Stranger Things Season 4

The satanic scare over D&D also brought back memories. It's unbelievable how stupid parents were back then.
I grew up in a pretty conservative church, so I remember my mom freaking about about a lot of these things. It took until well into my 20s to realize that D&D is not evil.

The satanic scare over D&D also brought back memories. It's unbelievable how stupid parents were back then.
I remember. I remember the hilarious Chick Tract about the "dangers" of D&D, and even the Tom Hanks TV movie about a guy that gets obsessed with the game.

My dad and sister were into D&D after reading The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. My mom flipped and threw out the D&D stuff, thinking we'd all turn into pawns of the Dark Master. More like pawns of the Dork Master, because my dad and sister were being a serious pair of nerds.

We did have the board game version of D&D called Dungeon back in the 80's, which was fun and wasn't too time consuming.

D&D itself, I could never get into. I knew classmates who were into it, but I only borrowed their Monster Manuals and Dragonlance art books just to draw pictures from. My one attempt at playing didn't last long, and was not unlike my usual posting style here on the Disboard: unfettered, gonzo gooberishness.

I think my mom read Turmoil in the Toy Box. It explain how all toys were evil. :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thank you for that google search.

Some.people.om Amazon gave it four & five stars simply because it was such an entertaining read.

Here's a four star gem -

Entertaining foray into the mind of a lunatic

I have to admit, I was entertained by this book from beginning to end, in a sort of car-wreck-by-the-side-of-the-road way. It's really amusing just how far some people can take their own personal beliefs. Phil Phillips is definitely one tree short of a hammock and while it frightens me to see blatant proof that these sorts of people are out there, his book provides hours of laughter for those of us who grew up with these toys and turned out just fine, thank you very much.

That pretty much sums up my opinion on it. Growing up it never made any sense, but a lot of things were banned. As a parent I hear so much, "Don't let your kids watch..." I always do my own research and realize the moral panic is alive and well on facebook.

That cover! Look at "Yoda"! And that Cabbage Patch Doll looks like a sleep paralysis demon cozying up to Barbie.

Years ago I found an old 80's special on YouTube about toys being Satanic, and it features that same author, Phil Phillips.

Phil believes even Care Bears and Star Wars are occult toy lines. Magic Rainbows + The Force = 🔥SATAN.🔥

Honestly I believe Phil and this host bought all these toys and needed an excuse to play with them.
I had to laugh when the host starts using the microphone on the Snake Mountain playset to bellow "Skeletorrrr" to illustrate how it "transforms your voice into Evil".

I believe this was one of the MANY random rabbit holes I went down during the pandemic. The things you watch at 2 am! LOL

The joys of having older kids on summer break. Just finished the new episodes and I will be sleeping in. OMG Just give the show ALL the Emmys now!!!! Enjoy everyone!

As I was watching I was thinking how incredibly fulfilling it must be to have created the show. To have something you visualized - especially in the early stages - turn out so well.

Watched "Papa"last night, outstanding. Best part is all the little nods to the time that make me smile. So many layers of feel good woven into a solid story paying homage to every 80's theme/movie/TV show/character there was, so it's new butt also warmly familiar, well done.
