Strange things guests say

Given the parade, line cutting, ect posts around her I can't help but wonder if they're pumping out enough or if that's just one more Disney cut back...

Does she know that in DL they pump small amount of Nitrous Oxide into the air to keep everyone happy? No, really. I read it on the internet, so you know it's true...

I haven't read all of the posts, but I think this ranks up at the top for being the most ignorant comment.

Last week while waiting to get our bags checked at Epcot, a guest leaned over to me and said "they should really use racial profiling to search bags." Needless to say my DD and I were shocked.

Not about WDW, but happened in AK. My DD4 and I were washing our hands after petting the animals in Affection Section. DD has very blond hair, while mine is dark brown. An older woman came over to me and asked, "Momma is that her real hair color?" I guess she could have thought it was a wig or something, but DD wasn't dressed up or had her hair done. I just answered "Yes", but my only thought was "How many 4 year olds have their hair bleached?"

I have naturally curly, thick hair - very curly. So does DD. When she was about 3 or 4, someone came over to us in the ladies' room and starting reaming me up one side and down the other for perming her hair just so we could look alike!!! Other people just asked (strange enough - as you said, unless she's in a pageant (and that's another thread entirely!) who perms a toddler's hair?) but this woman was NUTS!

I always get questioned about my hair, and got tired of normal responses, so here are some that are fit to print:
"Is that a perm?" "Yes - it's very permanent."
"Who does your perm?" "God."

I am a natural red head and apparently my mom got asked all the time when I was little if my hair color was real. I was born with red hair so she was literally getting this question from the first time they took me out in public. Both my parents and my brother have very very dark hair.

I'm 22 and I still get asked this a lot. My hairdresser is always confused when people at the salon ask me if it is real because she said it is so obvious that it is natural red. No one would EVER be able to get their hair the color of mine from dying it.

same here! stick straight strawberry blonde hair. Had a woman at disney once come up to me and start playing with my hair saying how gorgeous it was, and how it must be great to be a natural redhead and just fussing over it. Meanwhile i'm terrified as im only like 8 years old.... If i said this was the only time strangers played with my hair i would be lying.... i'm 23 now and it still happens. just the most memorable as it was the first

Details: The spot light on my DD, she talks into the mic...

Monster - "What's your name?"
DD - "Princess 'Rella"

You guys should be following my familly around in the parks. We do things like this all the time. It's just our humor. I never thought people might think we're serious Even my 6 and 7 year old are sarcastic. We forget that when their friends are around that most kids that age don't "get" sarcasim. They are always having to "explain" our comments to them.

I just e-mailed a friend who was at Disney. She told me she rode the "ponytale" (monorial) and Space Nymphs! I was hysterical and said her phone had the funniest auto-corrects.

My younger sister was never a guest (yet) but when I returned home she asked me when I went back to pick up some Anastasia merchandise for her. She now knows that Anastasia is not a Disney Princess... after showing her that no where in the movie or on the case was a Disney logo. *twitch* And she calls herself the Disney guru, sorry hun, I claimed that title in the household. (At least until I get married cause my ILs, now THEY are the ultimate Disney gurus).

Here's a good one for you guys!

The last trip I took to WDW in May of this year, my brother and I decided we wanted Pirates of the Caribbean to be our farewell ride on our last day. We continued to ride it until we were the very last two to ride with our own boat! (One of the most magical experiences we've had so far!)

One of the times we were riding though, I caught a snippet of the conversation going on between a man and his girlfriend who were in front of us. This is what he said:

"This whole ride is based off of the movies, you know. It's pretty cool how fast they built it too. I heard it was open for the release of the first movie!"



Now, I hate to get into other people's conversations, but this man was just too WRONG to let go! I HAD to correct him and his wrongness!

So, after we were seated (the couple was in the row in front of us) I said to my brother in a loud voice:

"I just love this ride. I was a little disappointed when they added Jack, though. But it IS funny to think that an entire movie franchise was created FROM this ride!"

Sure enough, the man turned around and asked, "Really?"

I explained how it had been there long before any sort of movie idea was created. It's amazing how much better you feel after correcting something like that.

I don't think some people will ever get it... My DH has been to Disney many many times and he still can't keep straight what attraction is in what park. Though - I do think he says things just to see my eyes bug out.

When we were first married I was making plans to do the Hoop-dee-doo Revue for my birthday (the week before Christmas) and he was adamant he did not want to spend that much money to see "dancing bears"... sigh

He wouldn't accept that is was different than the Country Bear Jamboree...

My two personal favorites:

A friend told me their favorite "Disney" park was Sea World. I told her it was actually not a Disney park to which she replied "but Shamu is Free Willy and Free Willy is a Disney character".

Then in line for Spaceship Earth a lady behind us was explaining to one of her companions about Fast Pass. Except she referred to it as PassFast. She said "its for people who can go real fast, and pass the other people and get in line quicker.

Dh and I tried so hard to not laugh thinking about guests passing fast, passing gas or whatever as they whizzed past slower guests.

We have two favorites from our trips:

Sitting in our plane at the airport, taxiing down the runway to leave for DW, little 3 or so year old boy next to us looks at his mom and exclaims, "I can see Disney World from here!" We live in Washington, DC. - It was so perfect, it is part of our Disney ritual now.

Sitting on the beach at WL, a little girl 4-5 maybe, was playing some sort of make it up as you go game. After the third or fourth "new rule" from Dad, the little girl crossed her arms, stomped off the beach and said, "New rule, I'm not playing!"

And, my DH is one of those folks who looks at the animals and says, "it looks so real!" anytime there is a small child nearby. He just loves their faces when they hear him.

I was on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, behind a man with a little boy of perhaps 5-6 years old. As we approached the Davey Jones fog curtain, the father says, "Do you know who that is?" The boy piped up, "Michael Jackson!"

How he got Michael Jackson out of that I'll never know.

Not said about the parks, or even in the parks... but it is about Walt.
It's my birthday and my wife asks me what I want for a present as we're walking into B&N, so I tell her I heard about this great book (which I can't remember the title of anymore) and I tell her "It's about how the evil corporate suits have taken over Disney, and they bring a cryogenically frozen Walt back to save the parks from greedy overlords."

Without skipping a beat she looks at me and asks (quite seriously) "is it fact or fiction?"

Yeah - we now refer to it as the work week from hell friday stupids.

BTW - Her IQ test was like two pts below genious level, she's not dumb by any means, but we all have our moments.
