Strange question about room layout and seasickness

I am extremely prone to motion sickness, and cannot ride "backwards" on anything. I can't even ride facing backwards on the TTA at the MK or I get sick, even with my Bonine. Which leads me to my very strange question.... We're in a Category 4 and I'm wondering if the furniture is laid out in the same "direction" in each room? For example, if I'm lying in bed, will my feet be "fore" and my head "aft", so that if I sit up, I'll be facing forward? Or are some rooms set up the opposite way, with your head forward and feet aft, so if you sit up in bed you'll be riding backwards? I really need to be facing "forward" while I sleep, otherwise I'm afraid I'll get sick. There's probably no truth to this, but psychologically I'll feel better if I'm riding forwards on the ship. My goodness, just when you thought you've heard it all, I have to come up with another odd question!!! But thanks for any replies!

I stayed in a Cat. 5 but also toured staterooms up to Cat. 3, and they were all arranged with the foot of the bed facing forward, so you shouldn't have any problem. The exception would be beds that are pull-down (usually facing aft?) or single convertible sofas (feet toward the water - starboard or port). I'm pretty sure of this ;-).

I was in cat 4 room 8590. The furiture had the head of the bed to the front of the boat.
I too am very prone to seasickness, But I was convinced that with my head going first I did not have to worry about getting sick at night! LOL.

My brother's room next door had furniture set up just opposite of ours.

I will remain convinced that head first is best - it worked for me - we have reserved the same room for next year.

Looking at the deck plans, I see the every other wall jogs in and out, and the remaining walls go straight across. I've assumed that the walls that jog in and out have the coolers and televisions against them. Then the headboards of the adult beds would go against the straight wall.

What further supports this assumption is that the wall between the staterooms and the corridor also weaves in and out. According to the stateroom diagrams, the stateroom doors are recessed from the corridor.

If I'm reading the deck plan and the room diagrams correctly, the staterooms alternate, with the beds alternately pointing toward the bow and the stern. If you know your stateroom number, you should be able to tell which direction your feet will be pointing when you're in bed by looking at the deck plan in the brochure.

Thanks everyone! Only on the DIS could I ask such a question without everyone making fun of me!! My sister, who is traveling with us, was cracking up laughing that I even asked about this! I used Horace Horsecollar's tips on the stateroom diagrams and deck plans to see which way we'll be facing, and the verdict is in... it looks like we'll be traveling feet-first while sleeping! I thought this would be a good thing, but now I'm not so sure after hearing that Slindamood is convinced that headfirst was the way to go! LOL!!! Hopefully it doesn't really make a difference, but I agree with Slindamood... if whatever we have on this cruise works, I'll request the same room for the next cruise!

I suffer from motion sickness, and I've been on one previous 7-night cruise (not Disney).

For me, the direction that I'm facing on ship doesn't make a difference because I'm really not aware of the direction of travel unless I make a point of thinking about it, or I'm looking down into the water. So it's not a factor at all when in bed. (Or course, everyone is different.)

A ship's motion can be problem, but not due to the direction of travel. Compared to planes, trains, and cars, the ship moves forward quite slowly. The motion sickness comes from the ship's movements that aren't related to the direction of travel -- rocking in any direction and any rising and falling.

And that's where medicine really helps.
